The yokai are supernatural spirits and creatures native to Japanese folklore who reside in the forest and monster shrine near Isobe's mansion. Shinpachiro Mayama is a samurai who suspects the demon's masquerade early on. He seeks guidance from an uncle priest and helps set up protective wards and candles to destroy the demon. He plays a crucial role in coordinating the human and yokai defense against the supernatural threat.
