In the mist‑shrouded Lowveld of South Africa, the remote Njala Hotel stands on the edge of a dense forest, its timbered walls and quiet corridors steeped in an uneasy calm. Built in the early 1980s on the former Wolwedans farm, the hotel’s isolation lends it an almost timeless quality, where the rustle of leaves and the distant howl of wolves seem to echo the lingering past of the land itself.

When a solitary driver loses control on a forest road, the crash leaves her with nothing more than a lingering sense of dread and a blank slate of memory. She awakens at the hotel and is appointed as its new receptionist, thrust into a world of unfamiliar faces and whispered histories. Sonja Daneel must navigate the bewildering routine of hospitality while piecing together fragments of who she once was, guided only by the cryptic hospitality of the staff and the strange allure of the surrounding woods.

The family that runs the hotel is as enigmatic as the place itself.
