Whiteout

In 1957, the story begins aboard a Russian cargo plane soaring over the icy expanse. Tensions build as the co-pilot, intent on causing disruption, descends into the cargo hold to confront his comrades.

The co-pilot offers his comrades a bottle of vodka but has a sinister plan. His betrayal culminates in the murder of one man, and a violent gunfight erupts, leading to chaos in the hold.

During the fray, the pilot is shot, resulting in a catastrophic descent. The plane ultimately crashes into the frigid terrain of Antarctica, leaving no survivors.

Fast forward to the present day in Antarctica, we meet Carrie Stetko, a U.S. Marshal. She navigates through an international research center filled with scientists preparing to depart for the harsh winter.

While preparing for an upcoming departure, Carrie expresses her intention to leave her post instead of facing another winter. A conversation about hazardous whiteouts further emphasizes her concerns for survival.

After hearing of a potential body discovered in isolation, Carrie decides to investigate, intrigued by Shaun Doyle's information. This discovery sets her on a path filled with suspicion.

Carrie and Doc take a flight piloted by Delfy to investigate the remote location. Upon arrival, they uncover a frozen body, initially believed to be a scientist who died in a climbing accident.

As they examine the body, Carrie discovers suspicious injuries indicating foul play. The fatal axe wound and a stitched leg raise alarms, suggesting a murderer may be lurking nearby.

Carrie travels to Vostock, an abandoned Russian base, in search of answers about McGuire's death. The desolate location heightens the tension as she investigates further into the mystery.

While exploring Vostock, Carrie discovers a bloodied Mooney but is soon confronted by a shadowy figure carrying an axe. She narrowly escapes, though not without suffering severe frostbite.

Recovering from the attack, Carrie is haunted by memories of a traumatic incident in Miami, where her partner failed to rescue her from danger. This flashback highlights her inner turmoil.

Regaining her composure, Carrie teams up with Delfy and U.N. agent Robert Pryce to return to the facility with the bodies. Their investigation takes a turn as they uncover links to a Russian cargo plane.

As they delve deeper, Carrie and her team discover that the cargo plane was involved in a diamond smuggling scheme. This revelation intertwines the chaotic events from the past with their current predicament.

Amidst an impending storm, Carrie confronts the killer directly. She manages to neutralize him with a shovel just as the chaotic weather forces the team to evacuate.

As the Antarctic winter recedes, Carrie is left to reflect on her experiences. Finding a moment of serenity in the Aurora Australis, she acknowledges her transformation and the beauty surrounding her.
