In April 2021, Noh Woo-sung buys an 84 m (900 sq ft) apartment in Seoul for ₩1.1 billion, kicking off a hopeful new chapter with his fiancée. They envision a stable, happy life as residents of the building. The purchase ties his future to the apartment and the neighbors as a central part of his world.

By August 2024 the apartment's value crashes to around 800 million, tightening Woo-sung's finances. The mounting debt leads to a broken engagement and a sense that stability is slipping away. He struggles to balance a day job with night deliveries just to survive.

One night, after a delivery, Woo-sung wakes at 4:30 a.m. to a mysterious alarm and finds Joo-kyung, neighbor from unit 1301, leaving a note about noise complaints on his door. She intrudes into his apartment and speaks in cryptic terms that hint at deeper knowledge. The encounter marks the first chill of suspicion surrounding the noise issue.

Seeking the source of the noise, Woo-sung visits neighbors on higher floors and eventually reaches the penthouse. Eun-hwa, the residents' representative, suggests the problem lies with unit 1301 and tells him to be patient. The exchange hints at a network of influence inside the building.

Hearing about a crypto opportunity from a friend, Woo-sung, desperate for relief, sells his apartment and buys GB Coin. He rides a short-lived wave of euphoria as the investment appears to pay off. The rash decision marks a pivot from personal conflict to a risky financial gamble.

GB Coin's value spikes, offering a temporary escape from his troubles. Neighbors accuse his unit of causing noise, and a hidden subwoofer is found in his apartment. A scuffle with Joo-kyung's husband ends in Woo-sung's arrest for noise disturbance and assault.

While in custody, Woo-sung tries to sell his GB Coin but cannot secure a deal, losing the remaining thread of financial stability. The combination of legal trouble and financial ruin pushes him toward a deeper level of despair. The case around the noise disturbance continues to simmer in the background.

Feeling cornered, Woo-sung senses there may be more to the case as he hears noise and spots lights from 1301. Jin-ho, another neighbor, decides to investigate Eun-hwa, suspecting deeper corruption within the building's management. The pair form a tentative alliance to uncover the truth.

Eun-hwa invites them over to continue the investigation, but their snooping is interrupted when her husband catches them. The intrusion heightens tensions and reveals how close they are to powerful players in the case. Trust among the trio begins to fray.

Woo-sung discovers the subwoofer in his apartment is being controlled via Wi-Fi from Jin-ho's place. The discovery reframes the conflict and implicates Jin-ho more directly. In an attempt to uncover more, Woo-sung quietly sneaks into Jin-ho's home to investigate.

Jin-ho is revealed to be an undercover journalist staging the noise scandal to expose construction fraud, using Woo-sung as a scapegoat. The revelation shifts the focus from a personal dispute to a larger conspiracy within the building and development interests. The two men grapple with their roles in the plot.

Jin-ho and Woo-sung break into the penthouse to confront Eun-hwa and her husband. Alliances shift as Eun-hwa attempts to kill Woo-sung, and Jin-ho is wounded. Woo-sung lights the gas line, burns the apartment contract and all evidence, and exits as the building explodes, losing consciousness.

After recovering in the hospital, Woo-sung returns to his childhood home to rest, then makes his way back to his apartment. As the sound of noise begins again, he bursts into hysterical laughter, signaling a chaotic sense of relief and the persistence of a world where the line between reality and paranoia remains blurred.
