In the heat‑blistered streets of 1980s Tehran, the city lives under the constant rumble of artillery and the weight of a recent revolution. Every day feels like a fragile pause between shelling and curfew, and the air is thick with a collective unease that seeps into homes and hearts alike. The war‑torn backdrop is not only a physical siege but also a psychological one, casting long shadows over ordinary lives and turning the familiar into something ominous.

Shideh is a former medical student whose ambitions have been eclipsed by political suspicion, leaving her to navigate a world that has stripped away her studies and stability. With her husband Iraj called away to serve as a doctor on the front lines, she remains in the city, determined to protect her young daughter, Dorsa. The child clings to her beloved doll, Kimia, a simple comfort that becomes a symbol of safety amid the chaos. Their cramped apartment, shared with a few neighboring families, becomes a fragile island of domestic routine, tinged with the whispered folklore of the neighborhood, including the warning of unseen Djinn that linger in the corners of Persian myth.

When a sudden missile strike shatters the fragile calm, the ordinary terror of war begins to intertwine with something far more unsettling. Whispers of ancient spirits stir the air, and the walls of the building seem to pulse with an uncanny presence that watches the mother and child. Shideh finds herself caught between the very real horrors of the conflict and a growing, intangible menace that threatens to seep into her daughter’s imagination.
