In a bid to escape her monotonous life, Megan, portrayed by Analeigh Tipton, dives into the world of online dating, seeking to reignite some long-lost excitement. Despite her roommates’ attempts to encourage her, the night takes a turn when they’re at a club party, and she gets denied entry due to her youthful appearance and lack of ID. It’s during this controversy that she unexpectedly encounters her ex-fiancé, Chris (who remains unnamed in the cast), prompting her to take control of her love life by hooking up with Alec, played by Scott Mescudi, a match from the dating site.

The next day, a fierce blizzard strands Megan in Alec’s apartment, setting the stage for an intimate and revealing conversation about their wild night, convinced they’d part ways for good. As their morning unfolds, Megan’s suggestion to “try again” brings them closer, leading to a more fulfilling intimacy.

However, the tranquil atmosphere shatters when Megan discovers a hidden collection of women’s clothing and alarming photographs, which unveil Alec’s sinister plot—using their interactions as a smokescreen to seek revenge on his ex-girlfriend, Daisy (also unnamed in the cast). Amid the fury of betrayal, Megan makes a hasty exit.

When Daisy returns to find Megan’s hastily written note, she learns the shocking truth from Alec. This revelation leads Daisy to confront Alec, resulting in the disintegration of their relationship. Jump ahead to New Year’s Eve, and Megan finds herself in locked in a cell, after a similar note is found in an apartment Alec’s neighbor, which they had busted into.

While she’s confined, Alec arrives with flowers and balloons, intent on bailing her out. Yet, Megan resolutely refuses to see or leave with him, leading Alec into a contemplative space as the clock ticks toward midnight. Days pass, and Megan’s roommates finally show up to post bail. Here, Alec expresses his regret, admitting he didn’t even know Megan’s last name and that this gesture was his desperate attempt to reconnect. He whimsically suggests that someday, they could laugh about their ludicrous circumstances, but Megan’s anger lingers, intensified by her unjust imprisonment.

In a surprising turn, Megan suggests they establish a truce, asking for his phone number and pledging to reach out once her fury subsides. As she examines the thoughtful gifts he brought, time slips by, and the whimsical message on one balloon—“I’m sorry, I’m an asshole”—suddenly makes her laugh. Without a moment’s hesitation, she grabs her phone and calls Alec, leading to a heartfelt reunion enveloped in snowflakes outside the police station, culminating in a tender kiss that signifies a new beginning for both.
