Tower of Evil

Two seamen arrive at Snape Island at night and discover a male corpse with a severed hand. They explore the lighthouse and find a female body with a severed head, then split up and uncover another murdered person. Penny hides in a closet, and in a moment of panic she fatally stabs the older seaman. The surviving captain remains alive.

Penny is examined by doctors. She becomes more vocal and begins to recall how her friends arrived on the island. The flashbacks intensify, and her screams reveal the terror she experienced that night.

Scientists decide to visit Snape Island, assembling a team of five men and two women led by Dr. Simpson aboard the Sea Ghost, with a surviving seaman as captain. They plan to investigate the island and search for the rumored gold and Phoenician treasures. The voyage begins, setting up the deadly encounter that follows.

Upon arrival, the crew notices a lack of life and unsettling discoveries within the mansion. The captain sees a picture of his brother Saul and reveals that his brother, sister-in-law, and their child died on the island.

The team hears an unusual noise and splits up to investigate its source. Dr. Simpson plans to check on the boat and warns that the island may still harbor a madman who has already murdered three young people. Tension rises as the group moves in separate directions.

While two scientists are distracted, the others search for the Doctor and discover that the boat has been blown up. Nora is stalked by a bearded madman, and she discovers a decomposing body in a rocker, screams, and faints. The danger on the island becomes personal and immediate.

The group reunites and the captain reveals that the corpse found earlier is his sister-in-law, and that his brother Saul still survives in the caves beneath the house. The madman’s strike is confirmed by the destroyed radio, cutting the group off from outside help.

The men decide to split into pairs to search for Saul, while the women stay inside for safety. The captain and his search partner reach Saul’s cave, where the true danger lies hidden beneath the mansion.

Rose hears weeping and investigates, eventually seeing Saul rocking the corpse of his dead wife. Saul then stalks Rose and locates Nora, who runs toward the lighthouse; Saul throws Nora off the rocks, killing her. The crew is forced to confront the killer in close quarters.

The Doctor nears a coffin and uncovers the treasure, while the unusual sound recurs and he pursues it. The captain’s search partner discovers the treasure and is then threatened by Saul’s laugh as Saul crashes in on him, escalating the confrontation.

The five survivors regroup in the cave. The Doctor explains that he fired on Saul and had been stalking him all night. Rose and Dan stay with the treasure while the captain, the Doctor, and the other man go to find Saul; Saul attacks Rose, and Dan tries to intervene, but Saul breaks Dan’s neck.

The Doctor reveals he has previously visited the island and left a boat and supplies on the far side. The captain dies from his wounds after mentioning Martha never wanted Saul’s fate to be revealed. Michael, Saul’s deformed son, attacks Rose; she sets him on fire with an oil lamp, and the house and cave burn as Saul’s trap ignites. Rose and the remaining men escape to watch the ruins.
