On a train from Pune to Hyderabad, Kutty reveals that he has just been released from a seven-year jail term. The revelation is accompanied by a flashback that hints at his troubled past. This opening scene sets the stage for his attempt to rebuild his life and his music.

Kutty is an aspiring singer who works for a local cable provider and struggles to gain recognition. He lacks a proper stage to perform, and his talent remains largely unseen by wider audiences. The entry establishes his persistent hustle in the music scene.

Rukmini, a college student new to the locality, hears Kutty's voice and becomes his fan who wants to encourage his talent. She believes his voice resembles that of her late father, which deepens her interest in him. However, she views Kutty through the lens of suspicion and misreads his character.

Rukmini encounters Kutty in a negative situation and mistakes him for a rowdy troublemaker. Her initial hatred grows from this misunderstanding, complicating their budding connection. She remains unaware of Kutty's true kindness.

Kutty chases a pickpocket to Rukmini's college and, in the process, drops a bottle of acid on the ground. Rukmini is present at the spot and becomes blind as a result. This accident marks a turning point in Kutty's life as he realizes the harm his actions caused.

Horrified by the accident, Kutty resolves to become Rukmini's close companion and support her in every way. The two grow closer and, over time, love begins to blossom between them as they navigate their complicated history. This marks a shift from estrangement to a shared bond.

Kutty learns that his mother’s eyes had been donated after her death, a revelation that deepens his resolve. He decides to arrange a transplant to restore Rukmini's sight using his mother's eyes, highlighting the depth of his sacrifice.

To fund Rukmini's eyesight restoration, Kutty accepts an offer from a Sikh man to donate a kidney to his Pune-based father for ₹40,000. He uses the money to arrange the operation, showing his willingness to sacrifice for her. After securing the funds, he prepares to travel to Pune for the kidney donation.

Having paid for Rukmini's surgery, Kutty travels to Pune to donate his kidney to his father. While awaiting his return at a railway station, he is framed as a terrorist and arrested, ending up in Pune prison.

Seven years later, Kutty is released from Pune prison and returns to Chennai. He discovers that Rukmini has moved away and that her eyesight has been restored. The return sets the stage for a new confrontation and reconciliation.

Upon seeing Kutty back in the city, Rukmini orders his arrest for her past grievances and for having made her blind, not knowing his true identity. This act stems from unresolved history and a mistaken assumption about his character.

When Kutty begins to sing, Rukmini realizes that the man she is arresting is Kutty—the very singer she fell for years earlier. She apologizes for the misunderstanding and they share a warm reconciliation.
