Poochiappan begins his shift aboard the New Delhi–Chennai Express, working as a railway catering server with his team and supervisor Chandrakanth. The crew prepares for a long journey across stations, bracing for routine work. The stage is set for an eventful trip that will test trust and courage.

Onboard the train, Poochi meets Saroja, an aspiring singer who dreams big. He confesses his feelings for her, and they hatch a plan to help her gain confidence. To boost her courage, Karunakaran impersonates the famed Tamil poet Vairamuthu and speaks to Saroja on the phone.

At Jhansi Junction, Union Minister Rengarajan boards with two bodyguards and creates tension with Poochi and Saroja when one guard clashes with them. The minister publicly humiliates the bodyguard, fueling a personal vendetta against the duo. The confrontation marks the first turn toward danger on the journey.

The minister warns he will target Poochi and Saroja as retaliation. Poochi pushes to secure an apology for Saroja, intensifying the conflict. He later discovers that a gun the minister claimed to have lost is actually in the minister's possession, revealing a deeper threat.

Beyond Jhansi, robbers secretly board the train at Nagpur Junction, slipping past the crew and spreading fear among passengers. The train's security is shaken as the criminals brace for their opportunistic plan. The journey now holds multiple threats, both from people and machinery.

The following morning, Srisha’s mother notices Saroja with Poochi and informs Srisha’s uncle. He demands that the truth be surfaced by contacting Vairamuthu. The revelation about Vairamuthu creates further tension and complicates the relationships aboard the train.

Srisha’s uncle chastises Saroja for the deception, and she pleads with him not to show his face. The family pressure collides with the escalating danger on board. The moment deepens the strain but also foreshadows the dangers ahead.

Nandhakumar dies in a collision with an oncoming rail tunnel, and news swirls that a terrorist attack has occurred. Officials initially label it a hijack, but it quickly becomes clear that the threat is an out-of-control train. The misinterpretation adds urgency to their need to act.

Planners realize they must stop the train by triggering the emergency brakes, but a short circuit foils the brakes. The plan shifts to detaching the engine from the passenger cars to avert catastrophe. Time is running out as the train races forward.

Poochi makes a perilous jump onto the locomotive to save Saroja, clinging to the moving engine. Saroja begins to recognize her deeper feelings for him as they fight for survival. The moment marks a turning point in their relationship.

As the train nears Chennai Central, the station is evacuated and panic subsides as the separated compartments approach safely. The locomotive crashes into the station, injuring Poochi and Saroja but leaving the passengers unharmed. Relief mixes with the cost of their bravery.

The media interviews the duo, and Poochi is hailed as a national hero for saving countless lives. The journey ends with a quiet realization and the sense that their bond has deepened into something more. The world around them applauds their bravery as they begin a new chapter together.
