Thirst

Sang-hyun volunteers at a hospital to provide ministry to patients and becomes part of an experimental vaccine trial for the Emmanuel Virus. The trial fails, and he is exposed to EV but survives. His involvement marks the start of a startling transformation.

During the EV trial, Sang-hyun is infected with the virus but recovers after a blood transfusion. Word of his miraculous recovery spreads quickly. People begin to see him as possibly possessing healing powers.

News of his recovery draws huge crowds as parishioners flock to his services. The church becomes packed with new worshippers seeking miracles. Kang-woo and Tae-ju are among the newcomers.

Sang-hyun attends a weekly mahjong night at Kang-woo's house and is drawn to Tae-ju during the gathering. The social event ushers in a troubling attraction that will complicate his life. The encounter sets the stage for changing loyalties.

Soon after the mahjong night, Sang-hyun relapses into his illness and wakes needing shelter from the sun, revealing his transformation into a vampire. The supernatural change begins to bend his choices and morality. He now must cope with a bloodsucking reality.

Sang-hyun begins drinking blood, first from a comatose patient. He attempts suicide but finds himself irresistibly drawn to more blood, forcing him to steal blood transfusion packs from the hospital. He begins to solidify his new dependence on blood.

An affair starts between Sang-hyun and Tae-ju as the relationship deepens. The emotional bond complicates Sang-hyun's already precarious existence and foreshadows violent choices ahead.

Sang-hyun moves into Mrs. Ra's house to continue the affair in secret, while Tae-ju's marriage and her overprotective mother-in-law add pressure. The double life tightens around Sang-hyun as he hides his true nature.

Sang-hyun suspects Kang-woo of abusing Tae-ju after noticing bruises, and Tae-ju confirms the abuse. He resolves to eliminate Kang-woo as a threat, setting the course for a dramatic confrontation.

On a fishing trip, Sang-hyun drowns Kang-woo and hides the body in a cabinet at the bottom of a lake, further sealing his alibi with the help of a deceptive claim to his superior. The murder marks a turning point in the murder spree.

EV symptoms return and Sang-hyun kills his monastery superior to restore his life and drinks his blood. The life for life exchange deepens his commitment to the vampire path. The violence accelerates as the authorities begin to close in.

Police begin an investigation while Mrs. Ra sinks into paralysis, haunted by Kang-woo's death. Tae-ju kills two of Kang-woo's friends, and Sang-hyun eliminates a third, escalating the body count and fear.

Sang-hyun insists they must flee; he places Mrs. Ra in the car and drives off into the night with Tae-ju. The couple's flight marks their attempt to outrun discovery and dawn.

Before dawn, they visit a camp of worshippers and stage a sham to deflect suspicion. The final plan collapses when they reach a desolate field, and both Sang-hyun and Tae-ju are burned to ash by the rising sun while Mrs. Ra watches from the car.
