Set in the Tamil Nadu town of Virudhunagar, Murugavel works as a dedicated police constable who devotes his life to his younger brother, Ravi, a school student whose restless behavior begins to worry their family. Protective, patient, and quietly worn by worry, he tries to steer his brother toward a better path, even as the distance between them grows.

Ravi runs away from home to seek a better life, while Murugavel is posted as a Sub-Inspector in Chennai. In the big city, he discovers that Ravi is drawn into snatching and other crimes, working for the ruthless local gangster Meesa Padma Meesa Padma. The stark contrast between the brothers’ destinies sets the stage for a tense, escalating clash of loyalties and duty.

Ravi uses a troubling ruse to blur the lines between family and law enforcement, presenting Murugavel as a mere vegetable vendor, while Murugavel himself harbors a quiet wish to live with his brother. The tension deepens as the criminal world tightens its grip around Ravi, pulling Murugavel further into a dangerous citywide struggle.

Ravi hatches a deadly plan to poison the meals Murugavel buys for him, but the officer refuses to eat for three consecutive days, clinging to his discipline and sense of responsibility. Meanwhile, at Murugavel’s vegetable shop, he encounters Madonna, a policewoman who moves through the market, collecting bribes from local shopkeepers and navigating the gray zones of law and order.

That night, Ravi schemes to hit again near Murugavel’s shop, and the young criminal finally learns that his brother is a real police officer. A high-stakes chase spills onto the streets, ending in a police encounter where Ravi is killed, and Murugavel is suddenly hailed as a daring, capable officer. The victory earns him a promotion to Inspector, though the new post brings its own burdens—high blood pressure and chronic insomnia that gnaw at his sleep and peace of mind.

With a renewed sense of purpose, Murugavel sets out to take on the city’s criminal underbelly, aiming to crush Meesa Padma once and for all. In the midst of the mounting danger, he and Madonna grow closer, and a romance blooms between the officer and the brave colleague who has stood by him through so much turmoil. Together they navigate a city that tests their resolve and their loyalties.

The threats intensify when two young boys employed by Meesa Padma ambush Murugavel and slit him, only to be saved by Madonna, who arrives just in time to turn the tide. The boys recognize their mistake and pivot to supporting Murugavel in the climactic struggle against Meesa Padma, a showdown that ends with Murugavel prevailing over the gangster.

In the aftermath, [Murugavel] earns a promotion to ACP, bringing him a hard-won sense of peace. A final moment sees Ravi briefly appearing in a vision to apologize for his past mistakes, and Murugavel finds relief as his insomnia eases and his blood pressure settles into a steadier rhythm, signaling a hard-won equilibrium after so much turmoil.
