The Wicked

The town's local myth speaks of a witch who inhabits the abandoned Open Hearth house and preys on children. It is said she eats children to live, girls to stay beautiful, and men for strength. Amanda, the little girl from the neighborhood, is snatched from her bedroom, proving the legend to be real.

Max is mourning his grandfather when Sammy visits him. Sammy is a neighborhood delinquent who earns little trust from others, and Zach's friends plan to visit Open Hearth to test the myth. To get back at Zach's crowd, Max and Sammy decide to tag along, and they share a kiss on a shortcut through the woods.

Zach and his friends, Julie, Carter, and Tracy, head to Open Hearth to throw a rock at the house. They glimpse a shadow moving inside and retreat to the nearby camping area. There they drink and engage in intimate moments with their partners.

Max and Sammy reach Open Hearth and throw rocks at the house. Max's rock hits a window and they flee after catching sight of a dark figure inside. The mood shifts from curiosity to fear as the night grows colder.

Julie hears a whisper and finds Amanda's teddy bear lying outside the camp, confirming the kidnapping. The four decide to search the surrounding woods for clues. They near the witch's abandoned house and hear a child crying from inside.

Julie and Zach decide to go inside the abandoned house in search of Amanda. They discover Amanda tied up in the basement with an apple in her mouth. They manage to escape into the woods as the witch gives chase, only to find Carter's truck and their camping gear missing from the camp.

With the town miles away and no immediate help, the kids resolve to walk toward safety. They realize the nearest ranger station lies beyond reach, so they press on through the woods. Along the way, Max records a video pleading for anyone who finds it to burn Open Hearth, insisting the legend is real.

That night the witch suddenly abducts Max as the others scramble to regroup. Sammy screams for help as chaos erupts. Zach discovers Max's bike and resolves to re-enter the house to rescue his brother.

The witch grabs Carter and Tracy, and Julie and Amanda hide under a bush to avoid detection. The kidnappings heighten the group's fear as faint cries echo from the walls. The danger intensifies as the house seems to close in around them.

Zach finds Max in the basement and is knocked out by the witch. The two are unable to escape and are recaptured as the chase continues through the house.

Sammy reaches the ranger station and tries to call for help, but the cops dismiss her as a prank. She blackmails Deputy Karl with a photo, prompting him to head to Open Hearth with Deputy Mahoney.

Karl and Mahoney arrive at Open Hearth and confront the witch. The witch kills Mahoney and assaults Karl inside; Sammy and Max find Zach's location and manage to rescue him.

They capture the witch with a bottle designed to trap her. The witch drains their souls as they struggle, but Max's grandfather—the village's witch hunter—arrives with a flamethrower and burns the creature. The house becomes a ruin as the legend seems to end.

When the police search the site, no corpses are found and the house is torn down to create a children's park. The film closes with a final hint that the witch may still be hunting children.
