In the aftermath of World War II, as their city celebrates liberation, a group of students organizes a cultural evening. They ask Ema, a reclusive piano teacher who lives in the same building, to perform. Though she refuses, the invitation prompts her to reflect on her own past and how the sweeping historic events have eclipsed her personal story.
