The Wrath of God

In 1922, Emmet Keogh, an Irish patriot, is coerced into transporting a truckload of Scotch whiskey through a country torn by revolution. His task is given by English gunrunner Jennings, which sets off a chain of events unravelling danger and violence.

Along the journey, Keogh encounters Father Oliver Van Horne, who is stranded due to a flat tire. After helping the priest, they forge an unexpected alliance in a troubled land, bound by fate and circumstance.

Upon reaching their destination, Keogh finds the intended recipient of the whiskey dead, a victim of Colonel Santilla's men. In an attempt to intervene, Keogh faces dire consequences when the gang confronts him.

Just when Keogh is about to be hanged, Van Horne arrives and uses a machine gun to eliminate Santilla's men. This act of bravery saves Keogh and reaffirms the bond between the two men as they try to escape.

Despite their escape, Keogh, Van Horne, and Jennings are eventually caught by Colonel Santilla. They undergo a mock execution and are offered a twisted deal: to assassinate Tomas de la Plata in exchange for their lives.

During their journey, Keogh meets Aymara Chief Nacho and is reunited with Chela, an Aymara Indian woman. Unbeknownst to him, they are now married under the matriarchal customs of her tribe.

Upon arrival in the well-guarded region controlled by de la Plata, Keogh and Jennings dine at his hacienda. They must be cautious as de la Plata harbors a deep disdain for priests, raising stakes for their mission.

While Keogh and Jennings inspect the mine, a cave-in occurs. Amidst the chaos, the trio works together to save Senora de la Plata and several miners, showcasing their resilience and camaraderie.

Van Horne plans to hold a mass at 4 p.m. to draw de la Plata into an ambush. However, the arrival of Senora de la Plata causes him to abandon this strategy, reflecting the complex relations at play.

The next morning, Van Horne announces a new attempt to ambush de la Plata during a procession. Some of de la Plata's men are killed, but their leader escapes, tightening the tension in Mojada.

After suffering injuries, Nacho informs the trio that de la Plata has taken hostages, including Chela and Pablito. He threatens to execute them unless Van Horne surrenders, escalating the stakes dramatically.

Pablito, the orphaned choirboy, is brutally murdered by de la Plata's men right before Van Horne's eyes. This tragedy pushes Van Horne to change his mind and confront de la Plata in order to save the others.

In a last-ditch effort, Keogh and Aymara warriors sneak into the compound to save Chela. They blast open the doors, rallying the townspeople for an uprising against the tyrannical de la Plata.

During the chaotic battle, Jennings sacrifices himself by detonating a grenade, taking out de la Plata's second-in-command. The chaos culminates as de la Plata is fatally wounded by his own mother, sealing his fate.

Following the climactic battle, Van Horne and Keogh attend to their wounds as church bells ring out. The community begins to process their losses and injuries while reflecting on their hard-won freedom.
