Mark Taylor, Chris Nelson, is a devout American Christian firefighter who, in 2005, carries a dead young boy out of a crackhouse fire. His wife, Mary Jo Taylor, Karen Boles, works as a fire dispatcher. The traumatic rescue leaves him with fever dreams, and his doctor, Todd McLaren as the Family Doctor, diagnoses him with post-traumatic stress disorder. Mark stops taking his prescribed medication and retires from the firefighting job, hoping the quiet life will ease the turmoil.

For the next six years, Mark’s life spirals as his PTSD deepens into hypersomnia and dark nightmares. He imagines being held by a fire demon from hell, Beast/Pops, portrayed by Durrell Nelson.
