After serving the Confederacy in the Civil War, Jesse James and his brother Frank yearn for a quiet farm in Missouri. Union sympathizers drive them to assemble an outlaw gang, rob trains and earn folk‑hero status. Jesse marries his sweetheart Zee, but when lawmen attack his mother’s home, he plots one last daring raid on a Minnesota bank.
