The Primevals (2024) Timeline Explained – Every Event in Order

Dar-Benn holds Captain Marvel responsible because Carol previously destroyed the Kree Supreme Intelligence, which triggered a devastating Kree Civil War. This internal conflict devastated the Kree homeworld of Hala, leaving it without a sun and nearly uninhabitable. Dar-Benn's mission is to restore Hala by any means necessary, even if it means destroying other worlds.

Foreshadowing: The film opens with the Kree fleet destroying a planet, establishing their willingness to commit devastation for their goals.

When Monica approached the anomaly on the moon with her powers, it created a quantum entanglement connecting her, Carol, and Kamala. This caused them to randomly switch places, their bodies and powers would swap unexpectedly. The switching was triggered by proximity to the anomaly and intensified whenever any of them used their powers. They eventually learned to control it by working together.

Foreshadowing: The entanglement begins during the moon scene when Monica uses her powers near the jump point.

Hala's sun was destroyed during the Kree Civil War, leaving the planet frozen and lifeless. Dar-Benn discovers that she needs energy from external sources, the Quantum Bands, to restore Hala's sun. She uses the jump points to siphon resources from other worlds (Tarnax for atmosphere, Aladna for water) and attempts to take energy from their sun as well.

Foreshadowing: When Dar-Benn uncovers the Quantum Band on the moon, she wonders what's in possession of the other one, hinting at her need for both bands.

To close the destructive rift that Dar-Benn opened using both Quantum Bands, Carol and Kamala channel their combined energy into Monica. She flies through the tear and seals it from the other side, becoming trapped in an alternate universe. The post-credits scene reveals she wakes up at the X-Mansion, apparently in a reality where her mother Maria is alive and operates as Binary.

Foreshadowing: Monica's emotional breakdown when seeing her mother's memory foreshadows her connection to this other universe.

Carol destroyed the Supreme Intelligence years ago during her own origin story, believing she was freeing the Kree from its control. However, this act inadvertently triggered a civil war among the Kree, which devastated their planet Hala and forced many to become refugees. The guilt from this destruction is why Carol avoided returning to Earth and felt responsible for the events of the film.

Foreshadowing: Dar-Benn's accusations during the final confrontation directly reference Carol's past destruction of the Supreme Intelligence.

The bangle Kamala has worn since childhood is actually a Quantum Band, one of two powerful Kree artifacts. The bands can open jump points and channel enormous energy. Dar-Benn seeks both bands to restore Hala's sun. Kamala's bangle was likely left on Earth decades ago, possibly connected to her family's mysterious history.

Foreshadowing: The bangle glows before Kamala is pulled into the quantum entanglement, hinting at its true nature.

Emperor Dro'ge negotiates with Dar-Benn under the impression that the Kree are genuinely working toward peace between the Skrulls and Kree. However, Dar-Benn is manipulating the situation, she plans to drain Tarnax's energy to restore Hala while tricking the Skrulls into lowering their defenses. Nick Fury was also facilitating peace talks between both species.

Foreshadowing: Fury mentions working with both species on peace talks, setting up the Skrulls' vulnerability.

Goose the Flerken had previously swallowed two Kree goons, and earlier in the film, Goose gave birth to a litter of Flerkittens. During the final evacuation, the Flerkittens swallow all the civilians and transport them inside their stomachs to safety inside a single evacuation pod, which is how Flerken physiology works.

Foreshadowing: Goose swallowing the Kree goons earlier demonstrates the Flerken's ability to store living beings internally.

When the three heroes use technology to view Carol's memories to find Dar-Benn's coordinates, Kamala pulls Monica and Carol into a shared vision. Monica unexpectedly sees a memory of her dying mother Maria talking to Carol while Monica was blipped during the Snap. This emotional moment connects to Monica's unresolved grief and hints at her mother's mysterious Binary powers.

Foreshadowing: Monica's unfinished business with her mother's death is established earlier when she reconnects with Carol.

When Dar-Benn takes Kamala's bangle and attempts to use both Quantum Bands to open a jump point to Hala's sun, the energy overload causes her to explode. The bands' combined power tears open a hole in time and space, forcing Carol and Kamala to sacrifice their powers to help Monica seal the rift.

Foreshadowing: Ty-Rone warned Dar-Benn that using the second band's energy could destroy her, but she ignored him.

At the end of the film, Kamala uses Nick Fury's technology to gather intel on Kate Bishop, attempting to recruit her in the same way Fury recruited Tony Stark. This sets up the formation of the Young Avengers, with Kamala positioning herself as a leader similar to Fury.

Foreshadowing: Kamala's fan-girl excitement about Captain Marvel throughout the film establishes her desire to be part of a team.

Carol reveals to Monica and Kamala that she is technically the princess of Aladna because she helped Prince Yan with some legal issues in the past. This connection allows her to request his army's assistance in fighting Dar-Benn, though the planet's inhabitants communicate through song, making negotiations complex.

Foreshadowing: This backstory is revealed when they arrive on Aladna, explaining Carol's unusual diplomatic status.
