The Peach Girl

Teh-en, heir to a wealthy landowner, and Miss Lim, daughter of a poor herder, form a close friendship in a rural village. They share playful days and secret conversations, unaware of the social gap that will later test them.

As they grow older, their friendship deepens into a romantic bond. Teh-en's mother vehemently opposes the relationship, insisting he avoid Miss Lim and the lower-status villagers.

Teh-en continues to meet Miss Lim in secret, defying his mother's warnings. The couple clings to their growing feelings, sheltered from the judgments of their community.

Teh-en resolves to take Miss Lim to the city to shield their romance from scrutiny. They embark on a perilous attempt to build a life away from village eyes.

The romance is discovered, and Teh-en's mother forces him to send Miss Lim away. The couple's hopes crumble as social pressure imposes separation.

Miss Lim dies shortly after Teh-en's arrival, ending their forbidden romance with a quiet, tragic finality. The village mourns the loss of a love constrained by class and circumstance.

Moved by Miss Lim's death, Teh-en's mother eventually accepts Miss Lim's child into the family. She allows Miss Lim's grave to be placed on the family's land, acknowledging the bond that remains.
