The One-Armed Swordsman

Bandits raid the Golden Sword School, causing chaos and threatening the students. Fang Cheng sacrifices his life to shield his master Qi Ru Feng, dying in the struggle. In gratitude, Qi Ru Feng accepts the dying Fang Cheng's son, Fang Kang, as his pupil.

Years pass and Fang Kang trains under Qi Ru Feng, but he is openly scorned by snobbish fellow students because of his poor background. The class system and constant mockery weigh on him, making him feel unwelcome. He finally resolves to leave the school to avoid burdening his master.

While leaving, Fang Kang runs into his classmates and Pei Er, the master's spoiled daughter, triggering a clash. In the ensuing fight Pei Er wounds him by cutting off his right arm. He staggers away and plunges from a bridge into the passing boat of Xiao Man.

Xiao Man nurses Fang Kang back to health after the accident. Through her care, he begins to regain his strength and slowly opens up to her.

Fang Kang and Xiao Man fall in love as he recovers from his injuries. Their growing bond offers him hope beyond the martial world and the burden of his past.

Xiao Man entrusts him with a half-burnt kung-fu manual she inherited from her deceased parents. Using its hints, Fang Kang develops a new one-armed sword style and grows stronger than before.

Qi Ru Feng plans his 55th birthday celebration and intends to retire, inviting all students to participate in the selection of a successor. The gathering is framed as the moment to determine who will carry on the school's legacy.

The Long-armed Devil and Smiling Tiger Cheng plot to destroy Qi Ru Feng during the journey to the celebration. They design a deadly sword-lock and ambush the students traveling to the celebration, causing chaos and killing several.

Fang Kang learns of the plot and breaks his promise to Xiao Man not to involve himself in the martial world. He resolves to act and rushes to save his master, determined to thwart the attack.

En route to the celebration, Fang Kang is delayed by the Long-Armed Devil's accomplices. When he finally arrives, he finds that the attackers have already killed many of Qi Ru Feng's students and wounded the master.

In a fierce battle, Fang Kang defeats the Long-Armed Devil. However, he chooses not to take Qi Ru Feng's place and instead returns to Xiao Man to pursue a peaceful life as a farmer.

Fang Kang returns to Xiao Man and begins a life of farming with her. Their partnership marks a quiet end to his martial career and a new chapter away from the sword.
