The Mother of All Lies

In the year 2008, a fierce confrontation unfolds in Kenya as the Special Anti-Terrorism Squad (SATS) faces a major threat. The team, comprised of notable members such as M. S. Gandhi (portrayed by Vijay), Sunil Thiagarajan (played by Prashanth), Kalyan Sundaram (brought to life by Prabhu Deva), and Ajay Govindharaj (a role by Ajmal Ameer), successfully intercepts the notorious terrorist Omar (played by Omar Lateef) to retrieve a dangerous cache of uranium. Their mission hits a turning point when they discover that former chief Rajiv Menon (played by Mohan), who has been on the run after being accused of treason, is aboard the same train as them. Recognizing a duo opportunity, Gandhi determines to apprehend Menon while also securing the uranium for his team.

The mission takes a dark twist as the squad retrieves the uranium from Menon and, believing they’ve thwarted all threats, destroy the train, presuming everyone inside, including Menon, has perished. Little do they know, back in Delhi, life takes a different shape for the team as they go undercover, posing as employees of the India Tourism Development Corporation, keeping their true identities hidden from their families. Gandhi, along with his pregnant wife, Anuradha “Anu” (played by Sneha), and their young son Jeevan (played by Vijay), struggle to maintain the facade. To quell Anu’s suspicions about his late-night disappearances, Gandhi cleverly invites his family to accompany him on a trip to Bangkok, which is the site of his next assignment.

As their stay unfolds, Anu grows increasingly concerned as peculiar sounds accompany her every call to Gandhi, who awkwardly hangs up abruptly. A clear sign of their struggle arises when, after the mission’s completion, disaster strikes — the family faces a violent attack. This chaos leads Anu into a labor, and tragically, young Jeevan mysteriously goes missing amidst the turmoil. The aftermath reveals a devastating blow when the police discover a charred body believed to be that of Jeevan, plunging Gandhi and Anu into grief. Anu gives birth to a baby girl but remains distant from Gandhi, blaming him for the family’s plight.

Jumping forward to 2024, the narrative shifts to Gandhi having left the SATS and now working as an immigration officer at Chennai International Airport. A significant rift exists between him and Anu, who raises their daughter Jeevitha (played by Abhyukta Manikandan) in separation. However, the past has not forgotten him, as Nazeer, his former superior, and Kalyan present a new challenge when they ask Gandhi to travel to Moscow to assist in training new officers at an academic program hosted in the reopened Indian Embassy.

Though initially hesitant, Gandhi embarks on this new journey. However, chaos erupts upon his arrival when a gang of rioters assaults the embassy, seeking to validate Russia’s lack of safety for Indian nationals. Amidst the chaos, Gandhi is taken aback when he encounters an attacker who bears a striking resemblance to his long-lost son. A deep sense of dread builds as he learns that this individual is, in fact, Jeevan, who has grown into a young man with a clouded past and new affiliations with dangerous gangs in Moscow.

The tension escalates when Jeevan acknowledges Gandhi as his father, yet grapples with fragmented memories of his childhood. In a poignant turn, Jeevan aids Gandhi during further attacks from the Faisal Gang. After returning to Chennai, the families begin to mend their fractured bonds. However, Sunil’s daughter, Srinidhi, finds herself mesmerized by the enigmatic Jeevan. The complications only deepen when Nazeer invites Gandhi for a secretive meeting. Upon arriving, Nazeer faces a life-threatening ambush; though he manages to escape, the ensuing chase leads to his tragic murder by a masked assailant who turns out to be none other than Jeevan himself — unbeknownst to Gandhi.

In a shocking revelation, the threads of betrayal and manipulation start to unravel. It becomes evident that Jeevan has been entwined with Rajiv Menon, who survived the very train explosion that shaped their tragic histories. Juxtaposed with heartbreaking revenge motives, Jeevan believes Gandhi is responsible for the loss of his family during that fateful event. In his mind, Menon’s claims solidify this twisted reality. With tensions reaching a climax, Gandhi is unwillingly drawn back into the SATS squad, determined to uncover the sinister threat looming over them.

In a race against time, the discovery of stolen data brings new insights into Menon’s machinations, revealing the all-too-real trajectory of vengeance targeting Gandhi alone. When the mystery deepens with the kidnapping of Srinidhi, the operation takes a treacherous turn — confronting old allies while battling new dangers. Tension peaks at an abandoned theme park where everything comes to a harrowing conclusion, culminating in the shocking reveal that Kalyan has always served as a double agent, eventually leading to Srinidhi’s tragic death.

After a gripping series of confrontations, Gandhi rises against Menon’s sinister influence, only to experience a staggering twist regarding the true identity of Jeevan. In a breathtaking confrontation atop a stadium and against a backdrop of devastation, it becomes clear that he is not the same boy that was lost in 2008 — the revelations shake Gandhi to his core as the real Jeevan unveils his transformation in a chilling format, having become a mad scientist devoted to further creating clones for impending chaos. As the family dynamic wavers on the brink of recovery, a cycle of revenge and resurrection emerges from the ashes, leaving behind an unsettling series of ramifications and unresolved destinies.
