The House of the Devil

In 1983, Samantha Hughes grows tired of her chaotic living situation with her promiscuous roommate. Seeking independence, she decides to rent her own apartment but faces the challenge of coming up with $300 for the first month's rent.

Desperate for cash, Samantha finds a babysitting advertisement and reaches out to the man behind it. Though his strange behavior raises suspicions, she ultimately accepts the job offered for the night.

Samantha's best friend Megan drives her to a secluded house for the babysitting job. Upon arrival, she learns that instead of babysitting children, she will be caring for Mr. Ulman’s elderly mother-in-law, a twist that makes her anxious but is offset by a lucrative pay offer.

After dropping Samantha off, Megan stops at a nearby cemetery and encounters a young man named Victor, who fatally shoots her after she denies being the babysitter. This sets a dark tone for the events of the night.

Samantha meets Mrs. Ulman, who emerges from the basement and makes unsettling comments about Samantha's attractiveness. The Ulmans provide her with half of her pay along with cash for a pizza, which adds to the eerie atmosphere within the house.

While attempting to do homework, Samantha accidentally breaks a vase and discovers a closet filled with luxurious furs and photos of another family before the pizza arrives. The pictures hint at a dark past linked to the house.

When the pizza arrives, Samantha is startled to find that Victor is the one delivering it. His strange behavior and casual wandering of the property heighten her sense of unease about the night.

Unbeknownst to Samantha, the family from the photos has been gruesomely murdered in the house. As she hears strange sounds, she grabs a knife and decides to investigate the attic, revealing a horrifying truth lurking in the shadows.

As the clock strikes midnight, all the lights in the house fail, and an ominous hand opens the attic door. Overwhelmed and compromised by drugs hidden in the pizza, Samantha loses consciousness.

Samantha awakens to find herself bound on a slab within the basement, encircled by satanic symbols. The Ulmans and a dwarfish demon enter the scene, intending to make her a part of their sinister ritual.

In a moment of fierce determination, Samantha breaks free and rushes upstairs, but she discovers Megan's lifeless body in the kitchen. A violent confrontation ensues, leading to a struggle with Victor that ends with her stabbing him in self-defense.

Cornered by Mrs. Ulman in a bedroom, Samantha realizes the full extent of the horrific plan. Seizing a fleeting opportunity, she stabs Mrs. Ulman, trying to carve a path to freedom amidst the unfolding chaos.

Feeling hopeless and hunted, Samantha takes Mr. Ulman's gun and attempts to escape. In a devastating moment, believing there is no way out, she tragically decides to take her own life, ending the nightmare in a shocking act of despair.

In the days following the traumatic night, local news reports express confusion over the strange speed of the lunar eclipse. While Samantha lies in a hospital in a comatose state, a nurse reassures her recovery along with that of her unborn child.
