The Friends of Eddie Coyle

Eddie Coyle, a low-level gunrunner, operates in a murky world of illegal dealings in Quincy, Massachusetts. His business focuses on supplying firearms to a crew planning a bank heist, showcasing the precarious nature of his livelihood.

Coyle faces imminent prison time due to his involvement in a truck hijacking orchestrated by Dillon, a local tavern owner. This threat serves as a constant reminder of his precarious standing in the criminal underworld.

Desperate to avoid prison, Coyle seeks the help of ATF agent Dave Foley, hoping to negotiate a lenient sentence in exchange for information. However, unbeknownst to Coyle, this alliance is fraught with betrayal.

Led by Jimmy Scalise and Artie Van, the bank robbery crew carries out a daring heist at South Shore National Bank. During the heist, they kidnap Mr. Partridge, the bank manager, escalating their criminal activities.

In light of the escalating events, Coyle meets with Foley to propose a plan to arrest Jackie Brown in exchange for a better deal. However, Foley remains evasive, keeping his true intentions hidden from Coyle.

Jackie gets involved in a lucrative deal to sell M16 rifles to a couple of hippies in Cambridge. Initially hesitant, his desire for profit pushes him to secure weapons from an associate in Rhode Island.

Under pressure from Coyle, Jackie undertakes a nocturnal journey to Rhode Island to acquire firearms for the robbers. This highlights Jackie's resourcefulness as he navigates the complexities of the illicit trade.

The bank robbery crew executes another bold heist at a bank in South Weymouth. They inadvertently trigger a silent alarm, leading to a frantic escape that ends in the tragic murder of a bank teller.

Coyle meets Jackie in a grocery store parking lot in Dedham to finalize the gun transfer. However, things take a sinister turn when Coyle later reports Jackie's earlier meeting with the hippies to Foley.

Unbeknownst to Jackie, Foley and his team are lying in wait to arrest him after Coyle's betrayal. This event marks a critical turning point, illustrating the layers of deceit in Coyle's plan to protect himself.

After drinking excessively at the Bruins game, Coyle passes out during the car ride home. Unbeknownst to him, Dillon and an accomplice take him to a remote location, leading to a fatal confrontation.

As dawn breaks over Boston City Hall, Dillon and Foley meet, with tension palpable between them. Foley thanks Dillon for his assistance but subtly hints at knowing more about Dillon's potential involvement in Coyle's demise.

As they part ways, the complex web of deceit and betrayal becomes evident. Both men, now linked by their shared dark dealings, disappear into the city, leaving behind the chaos they have created.
