Brothers Justin and Aaron receive a video cassette from Camp Arcadia, a group they once belonged to in their youth. Justin views the group as a UFO death cult, while Aaron remembers it as a friendly commune.

The brothers' differing recollections about Camp Arcadia lead to a tense discussion about the group's past. Justin's unease escalates when he speculates that the term 'ascension' may indicate a future suicide pact, heightening his fears.

Convinced by Aaron, Justin reluctantly agrees to return to Camp Arcadia for just one day. They are warmly welcomed, noticing that none of the members seem to have aged over the decade since they left.

As Aaron engages with Anna and Justin with Lizzy, the atmosphere at Camp Arcadia becomes more inviting for the brothers. Although Aaron embraces the warmth, Justin remains skeptical and distant from everyone but his brother.

Hal, a member of the camp, excitedly shares a complex physics equation with Justin. He expresses hope that Justin will one day accept the group's unusual beliefs, hinting that the equation represents something unimaginable.

During a camp activity, the members engage in a tug-of-war contest involving a rope that ascends into the dark sky. Justin is perplexed when everyone else seems to find victory, yet he feels an unsettling loss.

As the night unfolds, Justin and Aaron encounter increasingly bizarre phenomena around Camp Arcadia. Justin believes he is being observed by an invisible entity, which mysteriously leaves him a photograph of a buoy.

Hal advises Justin to investigate the buoy shown in the photograph, suggesting it contains answers to the strange events occurring around them. He emphasizes that no one fully understands the situation and encourages Justin to trust his instincts.

While fishing, Justin spots the buoy from the photograph and dives into the lake, retrieving a mysterious toolbox. He reveals he felt an unseen force trying to keep him underwater, intensifying the brothers' fears.

Upon opening the toolbox, they find a tape that reveals Justin and Aaron's past comments misrepresenting Camp Arcadia. This revelation leads to a heated argument between Justin and Hal, exposing deep rifts in their perceptions of the camp.

Freaked out by the mysterious events, Justin insists that they leave the camp immediately. However, Aaron, feeling betrayed and drawn to the camp's community, refuses to abandon his new friends.

Justin encounters several individuals trapped in time loops, condemned to relive their violent deaths for the amusement of the entity. They warn him that he, too, will be trapped when the third moon rises.

When Justin explains the dangers of staying, Aaron adamantly chooses to remain, believing that dying in the entity's ritual would be preferable to a mundane life. Justin expresses regret for forcing Aaron away from Camp Arcadia.

The brothers manage to escape as the entity unleashes destruction upon the camp. Justin instructs Aaron to refill the gas tank, only to discover the gauge has been perpetually set to empty, heightening their sense of urgency.
