The Empty Man

In 1995, four friends—Greg, Paul, Fiona, and Ruthie—set out on a hiking trip in the Ura Valley of Bhutan. They are searching for an elusive location, excited about the adventure that lies ahead.

As they embark on their journey, Paul plays a haunting tune on what resembles a flute. This melody captivates him, leading him to hear a strange call that draws him into a dangerous crevice.

Greg rushes to save Paul, only to find him fixated on a bizarre skeleton in the crevice. The sight chills Greg to the bone as he manages to pull Paul back to safety just in time.

The group stumbles upon an abandoned house and decides to seek refuge from the approaching darkness. They hope it provides them the comfort they need amidst their growing fears.

As Day Two dawns, Paul’s condition drastically worsens, plunging him into a silent stupor. His friends grow increasingly worried about their friend's peculiar behavior and escalating distress.

Ruthie steps outside during a fierce snowstorm, encountering a shadowy figure in the distance. Panic ensues when the apparition mimics her movements, sending her into a frenzy.

As the tension mounts, Ruthie drifts off to sleep only to feel Paul’s ominous whisper in her ear. This incident raises the anxiety amongst the group, leaving them questioning reality.

On Day Three, an unsettling change overtakes Ruthie, leading her to violently attack Greg and Fiona. The brutal confrontation ends with her disposing of their bodies over a cliff, driven by an unknown force.

Fast forward to 2018 in Missouri, former detective James Lasombra struggles with the haunting memories of his wife Allison and son Henry, who tragically died in a car accident. His pain is compounded by an elusive voice constantly echoing 'Where were you?'

James becomes involved with his friend Nora, who is desperate to find her missing daughter, Amanda. Their investigation leads them to a cryptic message left behind, indicating a deeper, darker mystery surrounding Amanda's disappearance.

James visits Amanda's high school and learns from a fellow student, Devara, about a chilling encounter involving an urban legend known as The Empty Man. This incident links to a horrifying fate that befell Amanda and her friends.

James makes a grim discovery beneath a bridge, uncovering the lifeless bodies of Amanda and her friends. This shocking revelation confirms the deadly pattern associated with The Empty Man, intensifying his quest.

James delves into the cult-like origins of The Empty Man, leading him to the Pontifix Institute. His investigation reveals a community steeped in mystery, leading him closer to the entity terrorizing Amanda.

On Day Two of his investigation, James learns of Paul's fate as an older, vegetative man revered by the cult. Despite warnings from other detectives, he presses on and confronts the cult head-on in their eerie woods.

In a tragic climax, James discovers Amanda under the cult’s sinister influence, revealing the Empty Man’s manipulative nature. Overwhelmed by guilt and despair, James succumbs to darkness, murdering Paul, thereby becoming the new embodiment of The Empty Man.
