The Damned

Eva, a young widow, arrives at a secluded Arctic fishing outpost inherited after her husband Magnus died in a shipwreck. She prepares to manage the outpost with her crew during a harsh winter facing dwindling supplies. The crew, including Ragnar and others, settle into their isolated existence amidst the severe conditions.

One morning, Eva and her crew observe a shipwreck near the jagged rocks called the Teeth. Limited resources prevent them from aiding the survivors, and Eva reluctantly decides to leave the wreckage and its stranded people. The crew grapples with the moral dilemma of intervention.

The crew finds a barrel of salt pork washed ashore and conducts a risky night-time search for more provisions. They recover a crate containing lamp oil and brandy, vital for their survival in the cold winter. During the search, they encounter desperate survivors clinging to the rocks, leading to chaos and conflict.

While fighting off the survivors trying to board their boat, Daníel kills one of the desperate persons. Ragnar is pulled into the freezing sea during the chaos, and the crew is forced to abandon him. They return to the outpost with minimal supplies and growing concern for their safety.

The next day, bodies from the shipwreck are found washed up on the beach, with one containing live eels inside its stomach. Eva and Helga become wary of folklore about draugr, revenant creatures, as unnerving events and visions of a dark figure start to unsettle the crew.

Eva starts having visions of a dark, ominous figure, fueling fears of supernatural retribution. Helga warns that the draugr must be burned to end its torment. The crew's paranoia intensifies as they suspect supernatural forces are at work.

The crew faces a severe setback when their fish stocks mysteriously vanish overnight. Helga, the cook, goes missing, and a trail leads them to the burial site of the dead. They find an empty coffin, deepening paranoia and suspicion among the crew.

Paranoia and delusions cause violent confrontations. Hákon attempts to strangle Daníel but is killed by Aron. Daníel then attacks Jónas before slitting his own throat, illustrating the chaos and breakdown of sanity among the crew.

Eva sets out to confront the supernatural threat, the draugr. She falls at the burial site, then finds Helga's frozen corpse. The draugr ambushes her at the cabin, but Eva shoots and burns it, believing she has ended the curse.

It is revealed Eva had killed a shipwreck survivor who offered her a gold pocket watch in exchange for her boat. She cannot understand his language, and in her confusion and fear, she shoots him and sets him on fire, climaxing the story's themes of desperation and supernatural horror.
