In this gripping tale, Sheldon Kasner finds his once mundane life transforming into a harrowing experience filled with high-stakes anxiety. The burden of his workload crushes him like an unyielding hammer blow, especially as the financial returns on his efforts fade to almost nothing. As hopelessness creeps in, he feels increasingly ensnared in a web of despair.

Despite being an unlikely participant in the world of organized crime, Sheldon becomes embroiled in a money-laundering scheme that soon spirals completely out of his control. With a massive two-million-dollar debt hanging above him like a dark cloud, Sheldon devises a desperate plan: he decides to fake his own death, enlisting the covert help of the enigmatic Chevrah Kadisha, also known as the Burial Society. This secretive group, comprised of dedicated Jewish men who prepare the dead for their final resting, sees Sheldon as a potential savior of their tradition.

As he is slowly initiated into their mystical customs, Sheldon erroneously believes he’s steering his life back on course. However, as he delves deeper into the machinations of the Burial Society, he begins to uncover a far more sinister agenda lurking beneath the surface—one that could ultimately challenge his grasp on reality itself and blur the delicate boundaries between life and death. “Life is never what it seems,” he soon learns, as he navigates this treacherous new path.
