The 8th Day

The story begins in a not-so-distant future where technology has advanced significantly. Holograms and autopilots are commonplace, making everyday tasks easier and more exciting.

Arnold Schwarzenegger operates a helicopter service that caters to wealthy clients who wish to ski in the mountains. He runs this business alongside his partner, Michael Rapaport, balancing work with family life.

In this future society, pet cloning has become a common practice as people can have their deceased pets cloned quickly and easily. This creates a new ethical dilemma regarding the use of technology for cloning living beings.

A company run by Drucker, played by Tony Goldwyn, has achieved the ability to clone humans despite the outlawing of human cloning. Utilizing a technology called syncording, they can digitize a person's brain and create a clone within two hours.

Drucker hires Arnold for a ski trip while requiring him and Rapaport to undergo tests that are actually for DNA and syncording sampling. This act plays a critical role in the unfolding events, unbeknownst to them.

On the day of Arnold's birthday, Rapaport disguises himself as Arnold to take Drucker skiing. Meanwhile, Arnold stays home to celebrate with his family, completely unaware of the events about to transpire.

At the mountain peak, a radical anti-cloning activist ambushes Drucker and the skiing party. The encounter ends in tragedy as everyone present is killed, setting off a chain reaction of cloning and chaos.

After the tragic event, Arnold visits a pet store to inquire about cloning his deceased dog for his daughter. Instead, he purchases a highly realistic sim-doll, showing the growing reliance on synthetic life.

Shortly after returning home, Arnold is confronted by mysterious attackers who attempt to kill him. In the ensuing struggle, he escapes but learns there is more at play involving his own duplication.

Arnold discovers he has been cloned after Drucker's death, leading to the cloning of Arnold himself to maintain a façade. Confusion ensues as the real Arnold attempts to navigate this blend of reality and cloning.

The narrative flips back and forth as Arnold faces off against various cloned enemies. He refrains from revealing the truth to his family, fearing for their safety in the convoluted scheme.

Arnold learns about the ethical complexities when he discovers that Drucker has implanted diseases in clones to ensure they remain under control. This moment highlights the moral issues surrounding cloning.

In a climactic plot twist, Arnold's wife and daughter are kidnapped during a school play event. This prompts the two Arnolds to join forces and devise a plan to confront Drucker.

Arnold confronts Drucker in a tense meeting where he learns the true nature of his existence. A violent shootout ensues where secrets are unveiled, and the cloning chaos reaches a boiling point.

In the climactic conclusion, the cloned Arnold successfully disrupts the cloning process, leading to a showdown. Drucker meets his end as the two Arnolds hatch a plan for the future, signifying hope amidst the chaos.
