Swing Shift Maisie

Maisie, working as an assistant in Horatio Curley's dog act, is fired after a minor quarrel with Breezy. Breezy offers to use his influence to help Maisie land a job at the Victory Aircraft factory, but she insists on earning it herself.

Maisie intervenes when Iris Reed attempts suicide in the hall, steadying her and convincing her to seek work at the same place. Iris agrees to pursue a job, setting up the later complications at the factory.

Iris seduces Breezy with her charm, and he becomes more attracted to her than to Maisie. The two soon become engaged, complicating Maisie's feelings and loyalties.

Breezy fulfills his wish to join the United States Army Air Forces and asks Maisie to look after Iris while he is away being trained. This places Maisie in a caretaker role during vetting and departure periods.

Iris is fired from the job and uses feminine wiles to coax Judd Evans, a factory clerk, into paying back rent for an apartment. Maisie gives Iris $20 to cover the back rent, and Breezy sends a $100 money order, but Iris still plots further mischief.

Maisie confesses to being a saboteur and implicates Iris and Breezy as fellow agents. They are stopped by the police on the way to Yuma but are released when Breezy presents his identification.

Breezy discovers that Maisie is being held, even though Iris had told him she left to attend an aunt's funeral. The deception reveals Iris's shady character.

Breezy returns to Maisie and tries to win her back. She is initially reluctant to forgive him, but gradually softens and allows him back into her life.

Having uncovered Iris's deceit, Breezy and Maisie reconcile and decide to stay together. They navigate through the tension created by Iris's schemes and resume their relationship.
