Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street

Benjamin Barker returns to London under the alias Sweeney Todd and reopens his barber shop above Mrs. Lovett's pie shop. His presence unsettles the city as Lovett offers him his familiar straight razors and a grim welcome back. The alliance begins to form amid growing shadows.

Fifteen years earlier, Judge Turpin condemns Barker on false charges, driven by lust for Barker’s wife Lucy. Turpin also takes custody of the couple’s daughter, Johanna, and Barker is sent into exile in Australia. The injustice fuels Barker's resolve to return home and seek vengeance.

Upon his return, Barker reopens his shop on Fleet Street and vows to reclaim what was stolen. His hurt becomes a dangerous fixation as Lovett, who harbors affection for him, quietly aids his plan. The stage is set for a union of violence and commerce.

Adolfo Pirelli, the rival barber and con artist, arrives in town and recognizes Barker's secret. He tries to blackmail Barker, threatening exposure and ruin. Barker's response is swift and deadly, ending the extortion in a hush of stunned onlookers.

Todd kills Pirelli to silence the extortion and erase the threat. Lovett's quiet complicity deepens as she helps the aftermath unfold and begins to profit from the grisly business. The shop becomes a stage for murder and a macabre alliance.

Toby Ragg, Pirelli’s vulnerable apprentice, is taken in by Lovett. He becomes a wild card in the escalating scheme, his innocence caught in a world that feeds on violence. His presence adds a further layer of tension to the duo’s plans.

Anthony, disguised as a wig maker, arrives with news of a plan to elope with Johanna. Turpin and Beadle Bamford interrupt and drive him away, heightening the danger around Johanna and cementing Turpin’s grip on her fate. The escape plan remains in the shadows.

Beadle Bamford comes to the shop to investigate the odd odor rising from the chimney. Barker and Lovett mislead him, and Bamford is killed, a grim sign of how far the alliance has gone. The city’s whispers grow louder as the murders pile up.

The unnamed beggar woman enters the shop seeking Bamford, and Johanna hides in a trunk to avoid discovery. She recognizes Todd and asks, 'Do I know you?' The moment tightens the noose around the conspirators.

Turpin returns to press his control, and Todd seizes the opportunity to reveal his true identity. A deadly confrontation ensues, ending with Turpin’s throat cut and his body dropped into the bakehouse. The line between vengeance and murder has fully blurred.

Todd confronts Johanna and initially plans to end her life as part of his vendetta. A scream from Turpin’s dying grasp buys Johanna a chance to escape. The beggar woman reveals herself to be Lucy, Todd's wife, exposing Lovett’s deception.

The oven consumes Lovett as the truth about Lucy is exposed, sealing her twisted lie. Toby reappears and delivers a final, fatal strike with his razor, ending Todd’s reign of terror. The city is left to ponder the macabre aftermath and the cost of vengeance.
