What Happens in Swallow: Full Plot Summary

The whole story of Swallow (2021) explained, from the opening scene to the final frame: every key event, every twist and what it all adds up to. Read it as a quick recap before the sequel, to check a scene you missed, or to finally understand what really happened.

Two friends, Benjamin and Dom, are celebrating their last night together before Benjamin flies to Los Angeles to become a gay porn star. Their plan is risky but simple: a quick drug run to Canada to make some money that will help set up Benjamin in his new life.

Their contact, Alice, drags them into a dangerous scheme. She forces them to swallow five condom-wrapped drug bundles—Dom takes four and Benjamin swallows the fifth. As they cross the border, a tense moment at a rest stop erupts when Dom stands up to a homophobic truck driver and is punched in the stomach. He begins to suffer severe stomach pains and ends up passing one of the packages.

Alice meets the pair again and drives them to her boss, Rich. She explains that the bundles contain larvae whose venomous bites create a powerful, temporary high. The danger escalates quickly: Benjamin manages to remove most of Dom’s packages, but the last one bursts inside Dom, and he soon overdoses from the larvae’s effects.

The situation spirals as Rich shoots Alice and attempts to seduce Benjamin. In a desperate response, Benjamin fights back, stabbing Rich with tweezers and fleeing with the remaining larvae. He returns to the cabin to witness Rich dumping Alice’s body in an outhouse well. The tension peaks as Benjamin’s own larvae bite Rich, and the final act of the struggle ends with Rich being dragged and dumped into the same outhouse well.

As the credits roll, Benjamin is shown being interviewed on a red carpet at a pornography awards event, where he is nominated for best newcomer. He delivers a quiet, emotional thanks to “all the people who believed in me,” marking a hard-won but hopeful rise from a night of danger to a spotlight moment.
