Arun and Hari are close friends who work as bank employees. Abhirami secretly loves Arun and tracks his daily life from the opposite mansion, staying in touch with him over the phone to express her affection.

After persistent requests from Arun, she finally agrees to meet him to reciprocate her love. This moment sets the stage for their relationship to begin and for Arun to hope for a real connection.

Shanthi, a pickpocket, steals Abhirami's scooter and happens to encounter Arun. He mistakenly thinks she is Abhirami and offers help, even lending money when she is conned, believing he is assisting the woman he loves.

That night, Abhirami calls to apologize for missing the meet, but Arun accuses her of lying and conning him for money. She then reveals her true self, leaving Arun stunned and remorseful about his harsh reaction.

Hari develops a crush on Sowmiya, a tomboyish daughter of a retired military major, drawn to her straightforward and open-minded nature. The infatuation leads him to consider a future with her.

To get a rent house in the Major's Mansion, Hari engineers a ruse in which Arun and Shanthi pretend to be married. The plan is designed to impress Sowmiya's father and support the idea of an inter-caste marriage.

The fake marriage leads to a grand engagement for Hari and Sowmiya at the Major's Mansion. The ceremony brings together families and heightens the pressure on everyone involved. The event also underscores the complexities of the relationships.

During the engagement party, Arun becomes drunk and, believing Shanthi to be Abhirami, assaults her and rapes her. The act scars Shanthi and leaves her pregnant.

The pregnancy resulting from the assault is revealed during Hari and Sowmiya's marriage. The revelation triggers shock and new complications for everyone involved.

Shanthi's unscrupulous uncle attempts to coerce her sexually, prompting anger and a direct confrontation. Arun fights back, defending Shanthi and driving the intruding threat away.

Overwhelmed by the events, Shanthi attempts suicide by setting herself on fire. Arun arrives in time to rescue her, deepening their bond and rekindling his responsibility toward her.

Arun and Shanthi reconcile, with Arun accepting Shanthi and her sister's children whom she fosters. Abhirami is happy to see them united, and the film closes with a sense of restored family bonds.
