Supercollider (2013) – Full Plot Summary & Ending Explained

Read the complete plot breakdown of Supercollider (2013), including all key story events, major twists, and the ending explained in detail. Discover what really happened—and what it all means.

Victor Robin Dunne Susskind wakes up to a morning that feels ordinary but is quickly shown to be anything but. He starts the day with his wife, Natalie Amy Bailey Susskind, and their daughter Jessica Mia Nordstrom Susskind, and he heads to the lab where a team of physicists is building the world’s largest super collider, the Zero Point Collider, a device with the promise of generating limitless energy. On a test run, a calibration hiccup in the atomic clocks threatens the operation, and before they can diagnose the issue, the collider erupts in a devastating explosion that ripples outward through the landscape.

Victor awakens in an alternate reality where catastrophe has rewritten the rules. The city is ruined by natural disasters, his relationships are altered—he is divorced from Natalie and his daughter is dead in a car accident. In this battered world, he helps Natalie out of jail after she’s arrested for drunken behavior, and a tornado soon forces them underground. In the shelter, Victor spots a familiar face from his real life, Emily, and the memories of what happened at the collider begin to intrude in his mind. Natalie suspects memory problems and urges him to seek help from Dr Frung Yana Marinova, a psychologist she trusts.

Dr Frung is skeptical at first, noting that Victor claims to have seen her before, but in this reality his memories defy the logic she expects. Victor recounts the collider disaster, and she suggests that his mind is using a coping mechanism—Memory Relapse Syndrome (MRS)—to shield him from the pain of his daughter’s death. Yet his sleep is haunted by dreams and abrupt flashbacks that pull him back to the laboratory and the moment of detonation. He discovers an iPhone from his previous life and, after a tense detour in a shop where the clerks don’t know what an iPhone is, somehow improvises a charger and uses the device to reach his wife in the original reality. In that moment, Natalie and Jessica appear alive and well, and Victor realizes this iPhone is his only link to the life he once knew.

Victor’s actions draw the concern of Leo Enzo Cilenti, his partner, who sends Chuck Brendan Beiser and two investigators to retrieve the phone. The trio track Victor to his home, and he narrowly escapes their grasp. He returns to Dr Frung for another session, showing her a video recording of his daughter’s seventh birthday and pleading that the collider has created an alternate reality. She remains doubtful, but Victor presses on, determined to prove his theory.

He searches for Natalie in earnest, but the investigators close in. They corner him at her house, forcing him to set the residence ablaze to create a diversion and escape their pursuit. In another bold move, he locates Natalie at a nightclub and sends her the link to the birthday video, instructing her to watch it. The investigators close in again and capture him, and Leo tortures him to reveal the location of the iPhone. When Victor refuses, Leo injects him with a paralytic chemical to keep him quiet.

Chuck reappears and drags Victor to Zero Point Industries to face Leo. Leo explains his plan to repurpose the collider as a time machine, a tool to glimpse the future and, disturbingly, to predict stock market movements. He asks Victor to help refine the device, but Victor refuses, torn between the promise of scientific achievement and the cost in human lives.

Back at the club, Natalie watches the birthday video and Victor explains again that the collider’s power seems to have created an alternate reality. He claims there is a virus stored on the iPhone that can restore everything to normal. Determined to set things right, he returns to Zero Point Industries to deploy the virus. He hacks into a computer, downloads the virus, and hands it over to Chuck, who, with the help of the two investigators, frees Victor and fights his way through the guards. The iPhone is destroyed by Leo’s henchmen, but not before the virus completes its download. The room goes dark as the facility’s systems go offline, and Leo threatens Natalie to force Victor into helping finalize the collider.

Chuck triggers the phone virus and rescues Victor, but not without taking a bullet himself. Victor escapes again and makes his way to find Natalie. A tornado tears through the area, destroying the nightclub where she waits, and Natalie is found buried beneath the rubble. Victor consoles her, but the moment of truth arrives when the virus drives the collider into overdrive, triggering a spectacular explosion that hurls Victor back to his original reality, where Natal ie and Jessica are alive and well. In this restored timeline, normality returns and Leo is arrested for stock manipulation, his ambition exposed and grounded in the consequences of his actions.
