Super Mario Brothers: Great Mission to Rescue Princess Peach

Mario is playing a game on his Famicom late at night when a blonde-haired girl on the TV pleads for help as enemies attack. She escapes by jumping out of the screen and introduces herself as Princess Peach. King Koopa appears and follows her out of the TV, setting the danger in motion.

Mario tries to fight Koopa but is no match for him. Koopa captures Peach and goes back into the TV. Peach leaves behind a small green necklace on the floor as a clue.

The next day at their grocery store, Mario cannot stop thinking about Peach and the necklace. A small dog-like creature wanders in and snatches the necklace from Mario. Mario and Luigi give chase and end up tumbling down a pipe.

They emerge from the pipe into the Mushroom Kingdom, where a mushroom hermit explains that Koopa is ravaging the land. The hermit reveals that he ordered Kibidango to bring the brothers there. He also shares the legend that the brothers can defeat Koopa by finding three Power-Ups.

A legend tells that to defeat Koopa, the Mario Bros must find three Power-Ups: the Mushroom, the Flower, and the Star. Koopa's plan to force Peach into marriage on Friday the 13th is part of his tyranny, and he has been turning citizens into inanimate objects. The brothers set out to locate the Power-Ups, guided by Kibidango.

The brothers embark on a long, perilous journey across the Mushroom Kingdom in search of the three Power-Ups. Kibidango guides them, pointing the way to each Power-Up. They face dangerous obstacles and trials along the route.

They reach and obtain the Mushroom Power-Up, gaining new strength for their journey. This marks the first major milestone in their quest. With the Mushroom in hand, they push onward toward the Flower and Star.

Next they secure the Flower Power-Up, expanding their capabilities for the battles ahead. The Flower adds new offensive options to their arsenal. They continue the search for the final Power-Up.

Finally they obtain the Star Power-Up, granting them heightened abilities and brief invincibility. This completes their trio of Power-Ups and strengthens their chance to defeat Koopa. They move toward Koopa's castle for the final confrontation.

That night, Mario arrives at Koopa's castle just as the wedding is starting. With the three Power-Ups in hand, he interrupts the ceremony and confronts Koopa directly. Koopa's minions close in as the hero stages his assault.

Mario defeats Koopa using the Power-Ups, breaking Koopa's spell and restoring the Mushroom Kingdom to normal. The kingdom returns to life and Peach's people are freed from Koopa's magic. The wedding is halted as order is restored.

Kibidango reverts to his true form, Prince Haru of the Flower Kingdom, and explains that he is Peach's fiancé. He reveals that Koopa turned him into Kibidango to carry out the forced marriage. Though heartbroken, Mario wishes the couple well and promises to help if they ever need it.

Mario and Luigi pledge to help Peach's kingdoms whenever needed and begin their long journey home. They leave the castle with a sense of responsibility and a lifetime friendship formed through the ordeal. The road ahead is long, but they are ready.

In a post-credits scene, King Koopa and his minions are shown working at the brothers' grocery store as punishment. The brothers return to their ordinary life, though their adventure lingers in memory. The galaxy of possibilities for future trouble remains open.
