Sandy Kris Aquino returns to the Philippines with her fiancé, Dale Wendell Ramos, after a stint in Dubai to celebrate their upcoming wedding. Back home, a caretaker hints at a shadowed past: Helen, Sandy’s childhood friend, had died years earlier along with her family. Sandy’s mother Tessie, Boots Anson-Roa in the first light of conflict, reveals that Helen announced her engagement after her father’s death, despite an old superstition that a marriage within the same year as a close relative’s death will bring a curse. Not long after, tragedy multiplies: Helen’s husband perishes in a plane crash, Helen herself dies in a bus accident at the crash site, and Helen’s mother disappears inside their quiet home, leaving a chilling sense that something unseen is at work.
In Bibiclat, Aliaga, the mood shifts as Diana Claudine Barretto and Brian celebrate their own marriage while a funeral bell tolls in the distance. Diana glimpses a ghostly flower girl during the reception, a sign that something supernatural is unfolding around them. The very next day, Sandy and Dale press forward with their own wedding, and during the ceremony, Sandy also sees the same flower girl watching intently. The joy of the occasion darkens when Brian collapses from a fall off the roof during renovations and dies soon after. Diana mourns the loss, and at the morgue the flower girl appears again as Brian’s mother Belen Raquel Villavicencio, along with Erning Jhong Hilario and Grace Glaiza de Castro with her mother Lagring, arrive to face a troubling truth: Brian’s body has vanished, leaving only Diana’s wedding veil behind as evidence of the strange turn of events.
The day’s sorrow deepens when Sandy and Dale’s friends Betsy Louie Anderson and Edith Renee Summer disappear after a ravine-bound van wreck, their bodies never found and only Sandy’s veil recovered from the wreck. Joya, the psychic daughter of Dale’s cousin Paola (not fully named in the cast here), senses a shared pattern linking the weddings and the deaths. The group discovers that Diana’s path intersects with a malevolent force as Grace chases a dazed Diana, who is lured by her husband’s ghost, while Grace herself is struck by a speeding bus, and Lagring’s presence at the scene marks another terrible sign.
To uncover the truth, Sandy and Dale seek help from Joya and are led to Gilda Liza Lorena, Dale’s mother, who explains that Paola is headed toward Nueva Ecija. The troupe makes it to Helen’s former home with Tessie to contact the dormant spirits, distracting the caretaker long enough for Joya to encounter a stray malevolent force that possesses her and warns that Sandy’s wedding is cursed. The revelation lands hard: Paola’s information clarifies that siblings who vow to marry in the same year are cursed by sukob. Joya’s possession becomes a turning point, revealing that Tessie’s husband Fred Ronaldo Valdez has faced infidelity and hidden paternity, a truth that unsettles everyone and especially Sandy who discovers a hidden family thread.
As photos arrive for Sandy and Diana, the truth sharpens: the loved ones who have died appear headless, and those who remain are doomed to die in turn, a chilling chorus that tightens the noose around the living. Diana, revealed as Claudia’s daughter, finds herself pregnant just as danger closes in. The sisters—Sandy and Diana—flee toward a hermit who might unlock the curse’s grip, while Tessie confronts her own husband’s betrayal and its consequences. With each step, they learn the weight of their bloodlines and the cost of secrets kept too long.
Determined to defy the curse, Sandy and Diana race to the hermit’s hut to burn the accursed relics, but the spirit lashes out, forcing the sisters to flee with the arrhae in hand. They return to town during the Taong Putik Festival, racing to the church where Diana was wed. At the top of the belfry, Sandy makes a last, sacrificial stand: she tries to destroy the ties that bind by crushing the arrhae, but the spirit closes in. In a final, selfless act, Sandy falls from the belfry, sacrificing herself to spare her half-sister and bring an end to the curse that has haunted them all.
Diana reunites with her father, who arrives to mend old wounds and seek reconciliation after the years of constraint and guilt that shaped their family. With Sandy gone, the curse lingers on Fred, who remains haunted by Tessie and Sandy’s ghosts as they linger in his home, a stark reminder that some sins reverberate far beyond a single generation. The film closes on a note of uneasy quiet, a family’s past finally spoken aloud, and two sisters bound by blood facing a future where the shadow of the Sukob may finally begin to lift, even as the world around them remains haunted by what was set in motion.
