Straightheads

Adam, a 23-year-old security technician, is hired by businesswoman Alice Comfort to install a system in her flat. After finishing the work, he falls asleep on her roof-garden, finding a rare moment of peace. When Alice returns, she invites him to a housewarming party, setting the course for their unstable relationship.

Alice and Adam attend a housewarming party for her boss. They share a passionate moment during the evening, deepening their bond but foreshadowing the violence to come. The tense attraction leaves both characters unsettled as the night unfolds.

Driving home from the party, Alice overtakes a slow vehicle, and Adam shouts an obscenity at the driver. A stag is struck on the road, and while they drag the animal away, three men arrive, beat Adam, and gang-rape Alice.

A month passes as they both heal emotionally but remain scarred. At work, Alice learns that her father died while she was hospitalised following the assault.

Alice goes to her father's country house to settle his affairs and discovers a locked chest from her childhood. Inside she finds a sniper rifle and a silencer, hinting at her father's military past and foreshadowing a desire for revenge.

Driving home later, Alice spots a group of horse riders and recognizes one as Heffer, from the rapist group. She informs Adam, who travels to the country house; together they study the contents of the chest and decide to investigate Heffer's circle for accomplices.

Alice and Adam stake out Heffer's home with the intent to kill him. Sophie, Heffer's daughter, emerges looking for her dog; seeing the possibility of killing a man who has a family, they hesitate and withdraw. The moral weight of their plan grows heavier.

Adam breaks into Heffer's house to locate his friends but ends up raping Sophie in her room before escaping, a brutal act that destabilizes both him and their plan. The act destabilizes their resolve and marks a turning point for both characters.

The next day, Alice uses security cameras and sees Heffer planning to kill himself by carbon monoxide in his garage. She hurries to the garage, pulls him from the car, and saves his life. In the delirium, Heffer confesses that his friends had planned to rape his daughter, but he manipulated them to attack the other woman instead.

Adam arrives at Heffer's house and beats Heffer, then ties him to the kitchen table. Alice uses the rifle barrel in a brutal act against Heffer but decides not to shoot after recognizing his humanity. Enraged, Adam carves out Heffer's eye, signaling a descent into violent retribution.

Adam fatally shoots one attacker in the head and then pursues the second across the grounds, killing him with the rifle butt. The confrontation ends with both attackers defeated as the couple's vengeance reaches its peak.

Alice drives away with Sophie; on the road, Sophie hitch-hikes but is invited into the car by Alice. Sophie asks where they are headed, and Alice replies that they are headed somewhere safe.

In the film's final moment, Adam walks away from his victim and looks directly at the camera, leaving the viewer to reflect on the consequences of their violent revenge.
