Spiderhead

Spiderhead transports viewers to an innovative penitentiary where the boundaries of human emotions are tested through experimental chemicals. This facility, run by the charismatic Steve Abnesti and his assistant Mark, offers inmates a peculiar chance at freedom; they can reduce their sentences by volunteering for the experimental program. Inmates live in comfort, performing daily tasks and enjoying a level of autonomy typically denied to prisoners, all while undergoing a series of emotional and sensory-altering tests with various drugs.

Among these inmates is Jeff, played by Miles Teller, who struggles with his past, haunted by the memories of a tragic car accident that claimed his friend’s life. Jeff is subjected to N-40, a so-called “love drug,” leading to bewildering experiences where his feelings become distorted. When asked to select which of his fellow inmates should be given Darkenfloxx, a drug that induces unbearable fear and psychological anguish, Jeff is paralyzed with indecision, claiming he has no true connection to either woman.

As events unfold, the situation intensifies when Steve’s orders lead to horrifying consequences. He forces Jeff to let Heather, one of the inmates, receive the lethal dose of Darkenfloxx, resulting in a tragic suicide that shakes the very foundations of the program. Mark begins to doubt their operations as he witnesses the ethical implications of the tests, ultimately leading to a confrontation with Jeff.

Amidst this chaos, a bond grows between Jeff and Lizzy, another inmate. They share vulnerable moments, revealing deep-seated regrets and desires.
