Jeff Mills saves Miranda from an abusive boyfriend and invites her to stay at his Los Angeles home. His coworker Derek Clayton helps facilitate the connection, and the trio becomes entangled as Miranda moves in. Jeff hopes to protect Miranda, but the situation grows tense as strange events begin to follow her.

A party at Jeff's home introduces Miranda to his staff. Most guests take a liking to her, but Grace senses something off, noting odd comments about the winter solstice and odd acts like handling a hot turkey without harm. The unsettling dynamic foreshadows trouble.

Mrs. White confronts Jeff in his office and demands that he return Miranda. Miranda then disappears, leaving Jeff and the others anxious and confused. Lieutenant Lee later warns that Miranda may be connected to a local satanic cult due to her necklace.

Miranda reappears and admits she belongs to a witches coven run by her ex boyfriend. She explains that her mother helped induct her into the coven. She shows Jeff her old house where rituals occurred and describes the solstice plan to bring her back into the fold.

The coven plans a winter solstice ritual on a beach where a sacrifice must come willingly. Miranda fears that the ceremony will determine her fate but believes the coven will act regardless. The looming danger drives her to seek help from Jeff.

Jeff agrees to help Miranda escape for 24 hours and hides her at Brock’s self created fortress while he works. He hopes to keep her safe until she can disappear from the coven's reach. The plan turns grim when the coven closes in on Brock.

The coven locates Brock's fortress and kills Brock, leaving Miranda exposed. Jeff's worries escalate as his attempt to protect Miranda collapses. He has little time to orchestrate a rescue as the clock ticks toward the solstice.

Jeff breaks into Miranda's old house to force the current cult members to reveal where Miranda is. The locals direct him to Towers Beach where the solstice ceremony will take place. The desperate chase tightens the noose around Miranda and Jeff.

Derek claims to have alerted Lieutenant Lee and local police, but Jeff is spotted and captured by the coven at Towers Beach. The rescuers arrive only after Jeff is restrained, heightening the danger. Miranda remains calm as the ceremony nears.

The solstice ritual begins with Miranda as bait. Jeff is gagged and tied while the ex boyfriend attempts to free Miranda but is quickly overpowered by the coven. Derek and two police officers arrive and join the ritual, revealing their true roles in the plot.

Jeff realizes that Miranda and Derek have planned the outcome and that he is the sacrifice. Derek takes Jeff's heart after delivering a final taunt. The ritual closes in with the two leaders controlling the scene as Grace's funeral is implied to have occurred off screen.

Grace is buried in a funeral that underscores the cult's reach. Lieutenant Lee questions Derek about Jeff's fate, and Derek hints that Jeff left for Mexico with Miranda. The authorities are left without answers as the cult continues to operate in secret.

The final scene shows Miranda and Derek rehearsing the same scenario with a new client. The pair demonstrate their control and the cycle of manipulation continues. The film ends on a chilling note that the danger will persist beyond the immediate events.
