Species III

The ambulance transporting Eve goes off course as Portus ambushes the crew. The co-driver tries to radio for help but is held at gunpoint by Dr. Bruce Abbot. Portus kills the co-driver with his tongue and reveals Eve and Portus alive in the back, and Eve dies giving birth to a newborn alien while Abbot escapes with the baby.

Government agent Wasach orders an autopsy on Eve and discovers her pregnancy, signaling a continuing alien threat. He orders Eve's body burned to prevent any further investigation or spread.

Abbot resumes his university duties, teaching biochemistry. He also raises Eve's child, Sara, who grows into a girl under his care and protection.

Portus, now aged and critically ill, visits Abbot's office hoping to find Sara and to learn about other half-breeds. Abbot tries to treat him, but Portus dies while seated in the chair.

Dean's funding for an experimental power plant is at risk. Abbot asks for Dean's aid in perfecting the alien DNA, promising a share of any future funding or awards in return.

Sara pupates inside a cocoon and emerges as an adult, marking a new phase in her development and potential as a mate for the species.

Dr. Nicholas Turner arrives to oversee the project and tries to seduce Sara. She rejects him and ends up killing Turner, then leaves to seek a mate. Abbot returns home and disposes of Turner's body.

Sara connects with another half-breed but learns of his illnesses and even knocks out his tooth, revealing the fragility of their condition. Abbot and Dean continue their experiments on Sara to learn more about her biology.

Abbot informs Dean about Project Athena and explains Sara's heritage as the child of Eve and a Mars-origin lineage related to Sil. The revelation ties Sara to a larger alien genetic history.

The half-breed Sara rejected breaks into the lab, mortally wounds Abbot, and attempts to impregnate Sara. Abbot uses hydrochloric gas to kill the intruder and protect Sara.

Dean contemplates whether to carry on Abbot's work, but Sara urges him to save her species and push forward with the research.

Dean's roommate Hastings discovers Amelia's dating website and forwards Dean's notes to her. Amelia, another half-breed, meets Dean, has sex with and murders a gas station attendant, and then kidnaps Hastings.

Wasach and his team monitor Amelia's link to Project Athena and coordinate efforts to rescue Hastings. Dean, Hastings, and Wasach then flee toward a secure site to continue their work.

Dean, Hastings, and Wasach reach the experimental power plant with Sara and Amelia in pursuit. They trap Amelia and Sara in the core, risking a meltdown as they drop Sara's harvested eggs into the chamber. After a tense confrontation, Sara survives and the core is sealed.

Hastings visits Dean at Abbot's home and sees Sara with a half-breed boy. Dean reveals he saved Sara before sealing the core and that he created a mate for her to prevent loneliness, though the mate will be sterile to avoid reproduction. Sara and her mate depart, leaving Hastings with the weight of the discovery.
