The whole story of Snehithan (2002) explained, from the opening scene to the final frame: every key event, every twist and what it all adds up to. Read it as a quick recap before the sequel, to check a scene you missed, or to finally understand what really happened.

At a register office, Malavika waits for her lover Anand Xavier to arrive and seal their marriage. She is accompanied by a photographer who is also her friend's brother, Joji, to document the ceremony. When Anand fails to show up, Malavika is forced to leave with Joji, stepping into a situation neither of them anticipated.

Taking pity on her, Joji helps her secure a hotel room, a decision that soon entangles them in bigger troubles. A raid on the hotel leads to their arrest, and Joji’s girlfriend Anu learns of the incident. In a bid to explain away the predicament, Joji tells the police that Malavika is his wife, and the authorities release them under a cloud of mistaken identity.

Back home, Malavika’s parents discover the secret marriage and bring the couple to stay with them, which stirs the household in unexpected ways. Joji wins the approval of most of Malavika’s family, except for her cousin Vivekan and his father, who scheme to remove Joji, yet their plans keep failing. Meanwhile, Anu’s marriage is arranged with Anand Xavier, adding a parallel thread of romance and tension to the tale.

As the truth comes to light, Anand confronts the reality of the day his register marriage with Malavika occurred. He reveals that his arrest at the time resulted from a case of mistaken identity, and by the time he is released, he discovers that Malavika has already been married to someone else, amplifying a tangle of misunderstandings.

Ultimately, the story moves toward two hopeful unions: Joji and Anu come together, and Malavika and Anand find their own resolution, each pair navigating mistaken identities, family expectations, and the quirks of fate with a mix of humor and heart.

Anand was arrested on the day of the register marriage due to a case of mistaken identity. He was detained by police before he could reach the register office, which is why he never arrived to seal the marriage with Malavika.
