Smashing Frank

Ayla witnesses a wealthy guest attempting to rape a teenage girl. The guest buys his way out of the courtroom and Ayla is convicted of assault. The verdict exposes her sense that the system protects the powerful and tolerates violence against victims.

Disillusioned by societal double standards, Ayla and her boyfriend Hugo decide to fight back. They create a YouTube channel named Frank and begin filming their own robbery missions to broadcast online. The project is framed as retaliation against a system that tolerates crimes to maintain stability.

Their first major act is a jewelry store robbery in which they coerce Chun to be their getaway driver. They execute the heist and record the score for Frank. The jewelry store is later revealed to be owned by Ho, a billionaire money launderer.

The crew learns the jewelry store is Ho's property and ties him to a money laundering operation. This discovery expands the scale of the crime they have touched and raises the stakes for them. It also explains why Ho is willing to respond to threats.

Ho stages a press conference to condemn Frank and steer public opinion away from the crimes.
