Slay

On a back road in flyover country, Rufus is attacked and killed by an ugly vampire while en route to deliver food to The Bold Buck. The vampire then darts back onto the road and is almost run over by a mobile home RV.

Inside the mobile home RV are four drag queens on a tour across America: Mama Sue Flay, Robin Banks, Olive Wood, and Bella Da Boys. They travel together, unaware of the danger Rufus's attacker represents. The mood shifts as danger begins to creep in.

Mama and Olive clash over the upcoming gig's set list, with tensions flaring as Olive pushes for changes and Mama digs in her heels. Robin acts as a calming influence, hoping the show will land them a legendary gay bar with a big payday.

The queens arrive at The Bold Buck and realize Robin mistook it for The Bold Tuck, a run-down venue with close-minded, homophobic patrons. Dusty, the bar's manager, denies booking them but offers to pay them anyway since there is no other entertainment for the night.

Two queer patrons, Jax and Steven, arrive and express excitement about finally seeing a drag show in their small town. Their enthusiasm convinces the queens to stay and perform despite the bar's reputation.

The show prep begins: Mama lends Olive a sentimental hairpin, and Robin befriends Sheila and Earl as they plan lighting cues. The mood shifts toward making the performance work under difficult circumstances.

Meanwhile, Rufus reanimates and makes his way to The Bold Buck, killing several bikers who leave the bar in disgust. He then bites Big Boy on the neck, turning him into a vampire and escalating the threat inside.

Big Boy's vampiric transformation unleashes chaos, and he is knocked out and stuffed inside a freezer to contain him for the moment.

The survivors barricade the entrances and realize they must endure until dawn. They fortify themselves with stakes and garlic, aware that the 'invitation' sign outside can let vampires slip inside at any time.

Olive escapes to Rusty's truck after slipping away toward safety, but a vampire follows. She kills the attacker with Mama's hairpin and discovers a crate full of garlic in the truck, giving them a potential edge.

Dusty reveals he booked the queens after all and comes out to Mama, admitting his dream of becoming a drag queen. The moment adds a human note amid the undead threat.

Rufus overhears what happens inside and, alarmingly, Bella can hear him telling his vampire army to kill everyone instead of turning them. The group realizes the ferocity of the danger they face.

Olive triggers the bar's water sprinkler and garlic floods the venue, exposing the vampires to a lethal garlic mist. The survivors fight back and begin to drive the vampires back as darkness gives way to dawn.

As dawn arrives, the threat dissipates and Travis storms off with relief, while Bella and Sheila realize that sunlight isn't fatal to them. Olive and Mama reconcile, and Dusty pledges his help to transform The Bold Buck into a fabulous gay bar; the queens offer support if needed.

With the danger gone and a new vibe in the air, Dusty begins repairing The Bold Buck into a fabulous gay venue, and the queens vow to return if they can help or if prejudice reappears. The film closes on a note of community and resilience.
