Sisu: Road to Revenge

The film opens with a narration about the end of World War II and Finland's cession of Karelia, which forces many Finns to flee their homes. The border shifts push families across the line, setting the stage for Aatami Korpi's harrowing journey. The mood establishes a backdrop of loss and displacement that drives the story forward.

Aatami Korpi travels with his dog across the border to the Soviet side, seeking his former home. He visits the site where his family once lived and breaks down his old house, gathering the timber to bring back to Finland. The act signifies both a personal quest and a reclaiming of what was lost.

In a Siberian prison, a Soviet Red Army commander is freed and arranged to meet a KGB officer. The officer knows Draganov's role in Aatami's family massacre and offers him payment to kill Aatami for good. The encounter plants the seed of a deadly pursuit that will define the chase.

Aatami returns with the wood in his truck as Draganov and his goons track him, attempting to execute him on the road. He fights back, killing many soldiers and driving off in a spray of violence, and for a moment spares Draganov after not recognizing him. The chase resumes as Draganov's riders close in.

The bikers catch up, and Aatami is shot in the cheek but continues onward. He methodically eliminates most of the attackers with brutal force, leaving a trail of wreckage. A detour to extinguish a growing fire gives him a moment to tend his wounds, while Draganov orders reinforcements to unleash hell.

Fighter jets arrive to finish the hunt, forcing Aatami to improvise. He shoots down one jet by clipping its wing from the forest, and later uses a ramp built from wood to flip another jet back toward its own path, causing it to crash. The assault continues with bombs and a desperate escape as his truck plunges off a cliff into a river.

With wood and explosives, Aatami powers a tank toward the border, pushing through Draganov's waiting forces. He detonates the explosives to flip the tank over the border and over Draganov's head, destroying the vehicle as the chase reaches a fever pitch. The dog is released to safety as Aatami is captured by the KGB who want him alive.

Draganov escorts Aatami on a brutal train ride to Siberia, whipping him and taunting him with the memory of the family murder. Aatami breaks free by retrieving a knife from his leg and quietly killing guards as he moves cart to cart, culminating in a dramatic standoff in the final car.

In the last train car, Aatami locates a gigantic missile and, after a tense struggle with Draganov, ignites it to propel toward Draganov's cart. Draganov fights back, but Aatami's resolve prevails as the missile drills into Draganov's cart and explodes.

At the Finnish border, Aatami arrives with the recovered timber and his documents. The border guard recognizes him and salutes, marking a tangible return of the survivor and a small victory after years of pursuit. The moment signals a personal victory over the relentless pursuit and a chance to go home.

Back in Finland, Aatami begins rebuilding his new home with the help of the locals. The dog returns, and the community extends a hand of support, signaling healing after their shared ordeal. The gesture shows a hopeful end as strangers become allies.
