Young Lila, portrayed by Anna Adamovych, returns to Germany after spending a year on an exchange program in the United States. Upon her return, she unexpectedly falls for Chriz, a young rock star played by an unknown actor. Unbeknownst to Lila, Chriz is a well-known figure, with his posters adorning the walls of her younger sister Luzy’s room. Their first encounter takes place in a lush botanical garden, where Lila is attempting to liberate a rare plant for a friend. When Chriz reveals that he is the lead singer of the band “Berlin Mitte,” Lila perceives it as a joke, unaware of his true identity.
An evening unfolds with the two of them bonding, and Lila offers Chriz a place to stay in her sister’s room while Luzy is on a trip with their mother and her new boyfriend. This arrangement, however, takes an unexpected turn when Luzy and her mother return home earlier than anticipated, leading to the shocking discovery of her favorite rock star sleeping in her bed. In a rush, Chriz is picked up by his manager, Paul, and his bodyguard, Horst. This revelation forces Lila to confront Chriz’s celebrity status and what it means for them.
Compelled to reconnect, Lila's friend Nike orchestrates a chance for Lila to meet Chriz at an autograph session. To her dismay, Chriz treats her like just another adoring fan, which leaves her feeling hurt and disheartened. Later, a letter from Chriz arrives, containing two concert tickets along with an apology. Initially, Lila passes the tickets to her sister; however, she ultimately must accompany Luzy, as her sister is too young to go alone. While initially apprehensive, Lila finds herself enjoying the concert, especially when Chriz performs a song that directly refers to her. This act allows her to forgive him, and afterwards, they share a meal at a Japanese restaurant. Their evening culminates at Chriz’s hotel room, where Lila stays overnight, marking a new chapter in their relationship.
However, the following morning, manager Paul attempts to throw her out, uttering the line, > “Groupies don’t stay for breakfast,” only to realize that Chriz genuinely cares for Lila. Meanwhile, Lila excitedly shares the details of the night with her best friend over the phone, but unbeknownst to her, Luzy is listening in. The news spreads quickly at school, leading to chaos. Chriz's team attempts to spin the narrative, presenting Lila as someone who fabricated the entire story. Chriz, shocked at how much the press knows, wrongly accuses Lila of betrayal. This accusation deeply hurts Lila, causing her to regret ever meeting him.
Recognizing her mistake, Luzy confesses to Chriz about her role in the media frenzy. Determined to mend things, Chriz seeks out Lila, interrupting her school class to reveal his desire for a genuine relationship. Despite his earnest intentions, Lila remains skeptical and struggles to envision a future together, particularly as Chriz is about to embark on a three-month tour in the United States, creating a rift in their potential love story. Ultimately, Chriz accepts her decision and heads to the airport, yet Lila's feelings drive her to change her mind and rush to pursue him. Tragically, she arrives just as the boarding gate closes, with Chriz already on the plane. Still, hope lingers as he catches a glimpse of her and asks for the doors to be reopened. In a heartfelt reunion, they embrace, and Lila expresses her desire for a happy ending, to which Chriz responds that this is just the beginning. The film concludes with both characters performing “Stumblin’ In” together as a duet on the beach, capturing the essence of their budding romance.
