Silent Trigger

Two Agency operatives, a sniper and his spotter, arrive independently on the unfinished top floor to set up a firing platform. They quickly recognize each other, hinting at a prior mission they've shared. They exchange a tense nod before resuming their professional setup.

In a flashback, the pair are ordered to kill a female politician. The sniper hesitates when the politician lifts a child, giving the moment a moral tension. A helicopter suddenly appears and air-strikes the courtyard behind their firing position, and the pair must fight off the assault, including the helicopter crew shot through the canopy.

A new security guard, Klein, is introduced as the site becomes volatile. O'Hara, a drug-addicted regular, tries to gain leverage by intimidating Klein. Spotter monitors Klein's movements as he approaches the roof door.

Spotter interrupts Klein just as he is about to open the roof door and escorts him to the lift, sending him downward. On the lift, Sniper sits atop the car, plants a bomb, and nearly falls when the car begins moving. Spotter saves him, and the two resolve to keep up their professional facade.

While the two operatives finish their gear adjustments, O'Hara attempts to intimidate Spotter on the rooftop. Spotter draws a small sidearm and threatens him into leaving via the lift. O'Hara then heads downstairs to arm himself and rethink his plan.

O'Hara surprises Spotter in the top-floor bathrooms; Spotter shoots him in the chest. Not deterred, O'Hara attacks, and the two fight through an unfinished hall filled with construction debris. Sniper ultimately defeats O'Hara and ties him to a toilet.

Spotter and Sniper consummate their feelings, sharing a tense, intimate moment. They briefly reconnect with their professional mission, refocusing on the operation that follows.

After their moment, Spotter notices water running from the bathroom door and realizes O'Hara has vanished. Sniper searches the bathrooms and finds no sign of him, heightening the sense that he remains a threat. The tension remains as they navigate the next phase.

A vengeful O'Hara grabs a shotgun and heads upstairs to finish off what he started. Klein shoots O'Hara with his shotgun, approaches the dying man, and delivers a final, cold-blooded shot. The guard's action removes a lingering threat to the pair.

Upstairs, Sniper hesitates to take the shot, and Spotter urges him to act. Before a decisive move is made, another shooter fires at the target, killing him. The moment shifts as the two react to this unexpected turn of events.

As Special Forces raid the skyscraper, Sniper and Spotter defend themselves. Klein unexpectedly enters and shoots Sniper in the chest, forcing Spotter to react with an MP5 in hand. Klein escapes via the lift car as the planted bomb detonates.

Believing Sniper to be dead, Spotter flees the burning skyscraper. A hydrant's cap is shot off, and she looks up to see Sniper alive, removing his body armor and hurling his rifle from the building. He mouths a quiet 'Goodbye' to her.

Spotter walks away from the burning skyscraper, replying with a subdued 'Bye' while the structure continues to burn. The ending leaves her smiling, reflecting a bittersweet farewell to the man she trusted.
