An orphan named Muthu is taken in by a caring family, but when the daughter tries to seduce him, the parents throw him out after she accuses him of assault. He then becomes the helper of another couple. The husband, angered by a real or imagined scene, stabs his wife; Muthu's influence helps fuel the act and seeds his own disillusionment with women.

A deranged adoptive father watches Dileep's crimes from a secluded corner of the mansion, sharing a misogynistic worldview. He remains obsessed with Dileep's power to command violence and records it in a hidden room.

Dileep runs Minerva Exports & Imports while preying on young women, murdering them, and burying each corpse in the garden beneath a red rose bush.

Dileep courts Sarada, a garment saleswoman, and a romance blossoms. Sarada insists on marriage if they are to be together.

On their wedding night, Dileep rushes to silence a witness who saw him take Chitra to a restaurant. He tries to buy his silence, but the bribe escalates and the waiter is killed.

Sarada notices oddities at home; when her finger is cut, her cat licks the blood, and the cat's chase leads her into a secret room in the mansion where Dileep's life story is wall-written.

The film reveals Dileep's origin as Muthu: an orphan who is thrown out after the accusation, then mentored by a new couple. The husband kills his wife after returning home, and Muthu's brutal philosophy about women earns his new father's approval.

The adoptive father remains hidden in a far corner of the mansion, watching recordings of Dileep's crimes and sharing a contempt for women. His fixation helps keep Dileep's crimes from being exposed.

Realizing his cover is blown, Dileep pursues Sarada as she tries to escape the house. The chase leads from the mansion grounds toward the graveyard.

The pursuit ends in a graveyard where Dileep is impaled by a cross. He staggers on, but is finally caught by the police.

Dileep is imprisoned and becomes mentally imbalanced, chanting Sarada's name and writing it on walls as his sole remaining memory.

Sarada visits Dileep in jail regularly, choosing not to remarry and hoping that, someday, he will be released and their marriage can be saved.
