Memento

The story opens with the introduction of two high school students, Yoo Shi-Eun and Min Hyo-Shin. Their deepening friendship quickly blossoms into a romantic relationship, setting the stage for the emotional turmoil to come.

As Shi-Eun and Hyo-Shin explore their feelings for each other, they face significant challenges from their peers. Their relationship, considered taboo, leads to feelings of isolation as they become ostracized by their classmates.

Feeling the weight of societal judgment, Shi-Eun begins to distance herself from Hyo-Shin. This decision creates tension between the two girls, as Hyo-Shin perceives Shi-Eun's withdrawal as a painful rejection.

Hyo-Shin struggles with the emotional fallout of Shi-Eun's distancing. She feels betrayed and sunk into despair, leading her to contemplate drastic actions as her mental health deteriorates.

In a moment of overwhelming grief, Hyo-Shin commits suicide by jumping off the school roof. This tragic act sends shockwaves through the school and leaves Shi-Eun devastated, as well as questioning her role in Hyo-Shin's fate.

It is revealed that Hyo-Shin may have been pregnant at the time of her death, adding another layer of tragedy to her story. The father of the child is suggested to be Mr. Goh, the literature teacher.

The narrative shifts to Soh Min-Ah, a fellow student who becomes increasingly drawn to the tragic story of Shi-Eun and Hyo-Shin. Min-Ah finds a diary that had been kept between the two girls, which serves as a crucial plot device.

Min-Ah uncovers the diary and begins to read it, gaining disturbing insights into the complicated relationship between Shi-Eun and Hyo-Shin. This discovery deepens her involvement in their story and the dark events that follow.

Following Hyo-Shin's death, strange and supernatural phenomena begin to plague the school. Students who had condemned Shi-Eun and Hyo-Shin's relationship start experiencing terrifying occurrences linked to Hyo-Shin's spirit.

It becomes evident that Hyo-Shin's spirit is haunting the school, fueled by the emotional remnants she left behind in her diary. Her haunting is a manifestation of her unresolved pain and the injustice she faced in life.

The remaining students grapple with guilt and fear as the supernatural events escalate. They must confront their own roles in the tragedy of Shi-Eun and Hyo-Shin, leading to a climactic struggle between past actions and present consequences.

Amidst the chaos, Shi-Eun reflects on her relationship with Hyo-Shin and the choices that led to this tragic outcome. This introspection is filled with regret and a longing for reconciliation, even in death.

The narrative builds to a climax where the students confront the haunting presence of Hyo-Shin's spirit. They must seek forgiveness and understanding to put her spirit to rest, encapsulating the themes of love, loss, and redemption.
