Sheena

Geologists Philip and Betsy Ames die in a cave-in near Gudjara Mountain while investigating rumors of a healing earth. Their death leaves their young daughter Janet an orphan, who is discovered by Shaman of the Zambouli and renamed Sheena. The tragedy sets the stage for Sheena's extraordinary destiny among the jungle people.

As Sheena grows, Shaman trains her in jungle lore and the ways of its animal inhabitants. Sheena learns to communicate telepathically with animals, forging a deep connection with the natural world. This bond becomes crucial to her future role as protector of Tigora.

A prophecy about the cave-in, 'when the sacred mountain cries out,' causes the tribe to regard Sheena as a child of the gods. She is renamed Queen of the Jungle and placed under the special protection of the king. The belief in her divine role shapes how others treat her.

Prince Otwani teams with his fiancée, Countess Zanda, to assassinate King Jabalani and seize control of titanium-rich Zambouli lands. Their scheming is linked to a potential exploitation of the healing soil, though this connection is never fully explained. The threat destabilizes Tigora's delicate balance.

Foreseeing the king's death in a vision, Shaman travels to Azan to warn him but is arrested by corrupt police working for Zanda. The warning is ignored, and the danger to the king grows. The political intrigue tightens around Tigora's capital.

Vic Casey, a reporter, and his cameraman Fletch arrive in Tigora to cover Vic's story about the former football star. Their investigation begins to glimpse a much larger conspiracy behind the king's security. They move closer to the truth as events unfold.

King Jabalani is assassinated, and Shaman is framed for the crime by Zanda and Otwani. Vic and Fletch realize they are onto a story far bigger than a routine royal scandal. The plot thickens as the resistance within Tigora escalates.

Shaman is rescued from a remote prison by Sheena and her animal allies—Chango the elephant, Marika the zebra, and Tiki the chimpanzee—and they escape into the jungle as the prison is destroyed. Sheena's rescue marks a turning point, but Shaman dies from her injuries shortly thereafter.

Otwani hires Colonel Jorgensen and his Black Berets to eradicate the Zambouli people and open their lands to strip-mining. Vic joins forces with Sheena to oppose them, and their partnership deepens into a personal bond. The danger to Tigora intensifies as the mercenaries advance.

The final confrontation unfolds on the Serengeti as Sheena leads against Otwani's army. Zanda attempts to kill Sheena with a helicopter, but a flock of flamingos telepathically attack and push Zanda to her death. Sheena shoots Otwani with an arrow, fulfilling the prophecy, though Vic is gravely injured in the process.

Vic experiences severe burns but is healed by the healing earth that pulses beneath Tigora. He contemplates staying with Sheena but decides not to reveal the story to the outside world to protect her homeland from exploitation.

Before departing for New York, Vic and Fletch share a quiet, off-screen farewell moment with Sheena. Sheena records a final message on Vic's tape recorder, wishing him a safe journey back.

Sheena takes a ride on Marika the zebra, gliding through the Serengeti as the jungle's bond with the land endures. The image underscores her role as its guardian and emblem of the healing earth.
