Vijay Sethupathi stars as Inspector Ka, a disciplined Chennai cop whose family has long served the country. His mother Satyabhama is an IAS officer, his maternal grandfather was a soldier who earned a medal for killing 200 enemies (a prize Ka secretly covets), and his father-in-law is an Inspector General of Police. The death of Sivasubramaniam sparks the arrival of Sivaprakasam, the looming mastermind who now leads the cell. Sivaprakasam’s plan is not only to execute the attack but to wipe out Ka’s family, turning a personal tragedy into a nationwide crisis. He pretends to be a warm, trustworthy man named “Satyaprakasham” and, with a dangerous charm, wins over Ka’s mother, Ka’s wife, Ka’s sister, and Ka’s grandfather, arranging an engagement with his supposed gentle daughter Saraswathi. The deception is meticulous, designed to pull Ka away from the heart of the matter as the clock runs down.
Meanwhile, the terrorists seize a school where Ka’s wife works as a teacher and force the hand of a desperate plot: they demand a plane and funds to flee the country. Sivaprakasam intensifies the danger by bringing his own wife into the scheme, Ka’s sister, and violence erupts as the plan unfolds. Ka’s wife makes a heartbreaking decision and shoots her sister to end the sister’s suffering, a move that underscores the brutal strain on Ka’s family.
