Savage Weekend

Marie Pettis is recently divorced from a politician husband amid a public scandal. On the weekend trip, she navigates lingering resentment toward Greg while developing tentative feelings for Mac and the attention of Jay and the others. Her choices and relationships become entangled in the murderous events at the farmhouse, pushing her toward a difficult moral line.

Nicky is the openly gay friend in the group who offers warmth and courage amid rising danger. He stands up to homophobic harassment at the bar, showing resilience. He is killed by the killer with a sewing needle.

Greg Pettis is Marie's ex-husband, a politician tainted by a public scandal. He returns during the weekend as the killer, wielding deception and calculating violence. He reveals intent to murder Marie and commit murder–suicide. His willingness to use deadly force shows a dangerous possessiveness.

Shirley is Marie's sister, lively and flirtatious, who buys the sinister mask as a joke. She engages with Nicky in a playful tango, adding to the weekend's tension. Her fate is sealed when the killer uses the table saw, and she is killed inadvertently.

Mac is a lumberman supplying wood for the boat and a romantic partner for Marie. He shares a local rumor about Otis, hinting at dark secrets in the countryside. He becomes involved with Marie's feelings, survives the weekend, and aids in confronting the killer.

Otis is the local man who sold the farmhouse and is tied to a violent history. He oversees the schooner project and becomes implicated in the community's dark rumors. In the climactic confrontation, Otis arrives and kills Greg with a chainsaw.

Jay is an engineer and friend of Robert who oversees the boat project. He is murdered by the killer in the barn after discovering Otis's progress.

Robert is Marie's new stockbroker boyfriend who travels to the countryside. He teams with Marie to confront the danger and discovers Jay's body; he is ultimately killed when the killer throws him from the second-story window.
