In 1985, the tranquility of Rocky's life is shattered by the arrival of Ivan Drago, a powerful Soviet heavyweight boxer. Drago, weighing 261 pounds, is accompanied by his glamorous wife Ludmilla and a team of trainers, intensifying the aura of competition.

Fueled by national pride, Apollo Creed challenges Drago to an exhibition match, despite Rocky's apprehensions. Rocky ultimately agrees to train Apollo, believing in his friend's ability to hold his ground.
